One resident who lives nearby told police that when the front end of the trailer hit the pavement about 6:00 die Trailer disengages ""# Truck loses load of timber. a-bomb going off." Both lanes of traffic wére closed for more than three hours while the scattered lumber was being picked up. A heavy lumber truck with boom had to be called from Bancroft to do the job. The truck pulling the trailer was owned by Frey- mond Lumber Limited of Bancroft, and was on its way to Richmond Hill when the mishap occured. Driver Bancroft was not injured. A police officer from Newcastle OPP said the accident apparently hap- pened when a two-inch bolt on the trailer hitch jumped out of the connection. Damage to the trailer and the squared timbers was estimated by police at close to: $1,000, and there were gouges in the highway pave- ment. Community Care 'awards volunteers On May 17 Community Care held a Regional Re- cognition Evening. About 260 volunteers, clients, board members and interes- ted persons from throughout the Region of Durham met at the Heydenshore "Pavil- lion in Whitby. Scugog Community Care was represented by thirty five volunteers, board mem- bers and clients.
