Just as regular. physical exercise is important to everyone, it is equally so to many of the seventy five residents of the home. Activation director Jean Nash says that the purpose of the physical activities, the arts and crafts and other personal projects is to help the residents "reach and maintain physical and men- tal potential so that life may be lived to the fullest." "Gentle Gym" is one acti- vity that can be done sitting down and involves arm 'movements using hoola- hoops, canes or handker- chiefs. And for those indivi- duals who are capable, there is an exercise bicycle and arm and leg pulleys. Arts and crafts, cards, and simple wood-working are also popu- lar activities. Mrs. Nash said that just about any kind of activity has some kind of theraputic value, and while the resi- dents are encouraged to take part, the final choice is up to them.
