Lit 0) Cadets from the Port Perry Royal Canadian Army Corps are going to have a busy summer with a variety of activities at camps in Ontario and as far away as Banff, Alberta. se Cpl. Margaret Cole will be. heading out to Alberta to take part in a tough six week course designed to build confidence in the indi- vidual and bring out leader- ship qualities. Based at Banff, cadets on this course take part in such things as mountain climbing, glacier agrossings, and white water canoeing. Lt. Mark Hlozan is enroll- ed in the Armed Forces Re- serve this summer and he will spend eight weeks at . CFB Ipperwash as a cadet, instructor. . Cpl. David Teskey and Cpl. aMike Barton are both off to AFB Borden where Mike will undergo a six-week' advan- ced course in athletic train- ership which will train him to run an athletic program within the Cadet Corps. David will spend six weeks on a driver education and communications course using both military and civi- lian vehicles. Troopers Shelley Northam and 'Scott Sinclair will take part in a 11-day course at Ipperwash designed to intro- duce cadets to a variety of activites and skills. Six cadets will attend the leader instructor course at Ipperwash lasting six weeks and providing training courses for cadets to act as instructors. They are Tpr. Jeanette Lane, Cpl. Ron Hodgins, Tpr. Deb Barton, Cpl. Wendy Burton, and Lance Cpls. Don Peterson and Gary Hulcoop. Seven Port Perry area cadets will undergo the six week cadet leadership course at Ipperwash which includes instruction in a variety of activities from map reading, range practice and fieldcraft, as well as canoeing, bridge building, and wilderness living. The seven are Troopers Geral- dine Cole, Ray Peterson, Dave Porter, Glen Parker and Chris Toth, and Lance Cpls. Steve Nesbit and Mike Baptiste. There is a possibi- lity that these cadets will take part in an exchange trip to Quebec this summer. Flyers, Hackers top teams in Ball Hockey League The past couple of weeks provided lots of hard running ball hockey action. The week of Monday, June 5th, saw the Hackers dump the Flames 5 to 1 and the Flyers beat the Aztecs 4 to 1. The Hackers got goals from Ron Redman (2), Doug Scott, Jim Greer and Bob Ryan. Assists on the goals went to Don Card (2), Mitch Mullens, Ron Redman, Bruce Smith, Dean Beare, Russ Stephens and Randy Crawford. The lone Flame goal came off the stick of Randy Knight assisted by Hoisty Van Wes- ton and Tim Bower. In the second game Stu Cochrane had two goals to lead the Flyers charge. Singles went to Scott Wilbur and Ken Bryant. Assists went to Kev Martens, Stu Cochrane, Steve Jones and Mike McQuade. The Aztecs got their goal from Dave Jackson (first tally of the year) assisted by Sean Taylor. Last week (June 12th) saw the Flyers and the Hackers tie 1 to 1, and the Aztecs nip the Flames 4 to 3. In the second game, Sean Taylor led the Aztecs attack with two goals and an assist. Al Faux and Jay Neill got the other goals. Brian Smith, Terry- Henderson and Ian McGarvie picked up one assist each. The Flames got goals by Doug Bronson, Rick Rahm and Greg Fedyr. Fedyr, Tim Bower, Ritchie Lefort and Doug Bronson had one assist each. The Flames had 9 minutes in penalties. The Aztecs took 6 minutes.
