Flamingo contract talks to resume A tentative date of August 3 has been set for resumption of contract talks between Flamingo Pastries and Teamsters Local 647 which represents prouuction wor- kers at the Simcoe Street plant in Port Perry. A spokesman for the Teamsters told the Star last week that the tentative date was arranged through a pro- vincial conciliator appointed in June at the request of the union when contract negotia- tions stalled. The production workers, almost all of whom are female, have been without a contract since April 22 of this year, and the issue of wages is one of the main area under consideration in the discus- sion for a new collective agreement. The old contract paid production workers a base of $4.20 an hour which ranged upwards to $5.75 an hour. Part of the difficulties in the negotiations occured earlier this year as result o the change in ownership of Flamingo, which was pur- chased by Vachon Foods Ltd. of Quebec. The August 3 meeting be- tween the two sides will likely be held at the Holiday Inn in Oshawa. ~Wintario Tickets Port Perry Star 985-7383 MORTGAGE LOANS 1st Mortgages from10%% 7 and Mortgages from 11%% Open 7 Days a Week No Salary Requirements.
