It is gbvious that the OASA is sounding a strong warning to players on other clubs that any kind of unruly behaviour cannot be tolerated, and the best way to avoid suspensions is for the '"'cooler heads" on a team to exercise control over _ their team-mates who have a Jendancy to let their tempers get the better of them. While I didn't like some of the antics 1 saw on the field during the two final games between. Scarborough and Willowdale, I must repeat what I said in this column space two weeks ago; namely, that youngsters of 15 to 16 years of age may not be emotionally mature enough to handle the pressure of a tournament, and at the same time handle the taunts and jeering that often comes from the spectators. During the two games in question it was vicious. Enough said. Miva U ull on om. 321, 910. 3 BEDROOM BUNGALOW COMPLETELY FINISHED ' Erected on your lot. C.M.H.C. Approved - -A.H.O.P. A 0 Task force appointed study health care for; Port Perry businessman Howard Hall has been ap- pointed chairman of a task force to investigate 'long- term geriatrics health care in Durham Region. Mr. Hall is the represen- tative from Scugog on the Durham Region District Health Council, and the announcement of the task force was made last Friday by Dr. Ian Taylor, vice chairman of the health council. In general terms the mandate of the task force will be to study the problems of geriatric and long term health care services and come up with recommen- dations which the Health Council may pass on to the provincial ministry of - health. In a statement Mr. Hall said "we know that the services available now .are "being challenged-waiting lists to get into nursing homes and homes for the aged-there are problems with the availability of seniors housing." - Mr. Hall added that the task force will likely take a year to come up with some recommendations on such things as the need for addi- tional nursing home beds, the need for a coordination . service to assist in the place- 'ment of patients, and alter- native programs to institu- E - tional care such as chronic home care and community care. 'One of the first jobs the task force will undertake is to review a proposal to - establish a 14-bed evaluation' and assessment service at the Oshawa General Hospi- tal. "'I suspect that the need for such a service will be- come clearer as we study the reasons why the system is always blocked by waiting lists while the Health Mini- stry says we have 400 too" many nursing home beds," said Mr. Hall. The task force will hold its first public meeting on August 10 followed by a seminar .at 2:00p.m. in the meeting hall of the Whithy Municipal Building on Ross- i land Road. Dr. Harry Sanderson, and Oshawa G.P. will act as vice- chairman of the task force, and the committee will also include senior citizens to be. appointed from around the Region. CORTS (Canadian-Ontario -Rideau-Trent-Severn) re cently came out with '"'green paper" which make wide-spread recommenda: tions concerning the future use of both the waterway and: 'the shoreline of the system which runs from Ottawa to Georgian Bay and includes Lake Scugog. The advisory committee to | CORTS has asked for the' public comment and reac- tion to the "Green paper" - proposals, and when the matter came up- briefly at a meeting of Scugog council July 24, the report prepared by the Mayor was blunt and to the point.
