In the mixed doubles event August 30, Bill and Melba Owen of the home Port Perry club came away as high three game winners with a score of 60 plus 3 and cap- tured the IGA trophy. They. were followed by Mr. and Mrs. Norm Dewes of Rus- holme with a score of 52 plus 2. Mr. and Mrs. W. Southern of Cannington captured the high two game, and Mr. and Mrs. H. Garrett of Whitby were the high one game winners. There were 16 teams entered in the annual doub- Localteamwins mixed doubles les tournament from as far away as Markham, Aurora, Peterborough and Oshawa. "The following day there were 14 entries in the ladies trebles match and Joy Hen- derson's team from Mark- ham won the event with a score of 52 plus 2. Wilma McLaughlin's team from Oshawa won the high two game with a score of 47 plus 3, followed by Vi Norris and Ev Granik, both from Osh- awa. Mary Jordan of Lind- say was the high one game winner with a score of 38. Uxport Chippies drop tournament final Representing the Atom league at this tournament were a combination of Port Perry and Uxbridge boys called Peterborough Lumber Uxport "Chippies"'. On Saturday the Chippies played two games, the first kick off was at 10:30 a.m. against Newmarket. Andy Systma scored one goal in the first half and Blair Feat- herstone scored during the second half of play, ending the game 2 to 0 for the Uxport "Chippies"'. Second game started at 1:30 against "Wexford". During the first half Paul Carr put two classical goals in the net followed up with a third goal by Blair Feather- stone. Second half of play gave the Chippies another goal, scored by Barry Willer- ton on a beautiful high shot, ending the game 4 to 0 and two shut out games for goalie Sean Fisher. On Monday morning the boys returned to Newmarket to play it out for the cup against "York Pyramids". Both teams played an excel- lent game of soccer bringing the parents and spectators out of their seats more than once. The Chippies lost to York Pyramids 1 to 0. The boys were presented with pennants and crests and a finalist trophy. Well done boys for a great team effort. 'This coming week-end the Peterborough Lumber ""Chippies"' will be playing at a tournament in Stouffville along with a mosquito team --and a pee-wee team repre- senting Port Perry and Ux- bridge.
