The total vote was Dymond (P.C.) 9,864; Hollingsworth (Lib.) 4,297; Edwards (N.D.P.) 2,218. After six years of service with the Colborne Chronicle, Bill Harrison is back in his home town, Port Perry. On Monday he took over the position as managing editor of the '"'Star"', the paper where he first learned the printing business. His employer is Mr. Per Hvidsten, new publisher of the Star. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Edward Thom- pson, Prince Albert, whose Tipplar Pigeon won second prize in its class at the C.N.E. Cattle rustlers slaughtered a 500 lb. calf on the farm of Messrs. Population of Port Perry increased by 91 during 1968, bringing the total population to the highest ever recorded at 2,746. Vin Walker was elected chairman of the Arena Board at a recent meeting held by the appointed mem- bers. Congratulations to Earl Phoenix, Greenbank, who won the 4-H Club Showmanship Trophy at Lindsay Fair on September 18. Durham Region council voted against the necessary Official Plan changes on the basis of a planning commit- tee report which says in part that the development would be an intrusion into a rural Woman Jailed in An Oshawa woman was sentenced September 19 to three months in jail for her role last November in a hold-up at a Port Perry Brewer's Retail store. Pauline LeBlanc, 42, of 888 Glen St., pleaded guilty 'in county court here to armed robbery. It was stressed by her counsel, however, that she was only an accomplice. Court was told that on November 7, LeBlanc and a man rented a car and drove into Whitby, where LeBlanc went into a K-Mart depart- ment store and bought a pellet gun. Court was told that Le- Blanc remained in the car, while the man went inside and robbed the store of $550. -LeBlanc claimed she re- ceived $32 of that money.
