Volleyball teams are big winners On Saturday, September 30, the Port Perry Junior Volleyball team coached by Mr. Larry Doble, won the Donevan Invitational Volley- ball Tournament. It was a long 10 hours of hard work, filled with nerve racking tension, but Port Perry came out on top after fourteen games. Port Perry was the class of the tourna- ment, playing brilliant but basic volleyball. Scott Sinclair contributed strong spiking, while John Butler dug the ball off the floor with many dazzling saves. 'He used a 3 wood with a following wind. He was playing with S.R. Owens and it was a blind shot seen by J. Scott. His score for the round was 68, 3 under par. Ro- bert Franssen was voted the team's most valuable_play- er. On October 14, Port Perry will compete in the Dunbar- ton Invitational Tourna- ment. SENIOR BOYS VOLLEYBALL RESULTS The Port Perry team started slowly and lost the first game to G.L. Roberts of 'Oshawa 15 to 18. Port rebounded in the second game and soundly defeated McLaughlin of Oshawa 15 to 5.. Uxbridge proved to be a stubborn opponent but Port defeated them 15 to 7. In the best 2 of 3 play-offs Port defeated G.L. Roberts' 15 to 5, 17 to 15 to win the four-team tournament held October 5 in Uxbridge. . Scott Wilbur led the team with some good spiking - The teams as a whole is starting to improve and is looking ahead with some confidence to the L.0.S.S.A. play-offs.
