Scugog - | Island by Mrs. Earl Reader new residents Mr. & Mrs. John Paul Fletcher and their three small children from Oshawa to Gerrow's beach in the house formerly owned by Dr. Martin. We are please to hear Mrs. Morven Hughes of Port View Beach is recovering quite well in the Oshawa Hospital. Rev. Linstead has recover- ed fairly well from his heavy attack of flu and was ab¥® to take the Island Service on Sunday. His story for the children took us all back to the days of Service in Eng- land by Rev. Geo. Whitfield. Yelverton SR News - by Mr. Harvey Malcolm Yelverton's Annual Thanksgiving Beef dinner was again a success with over 500 satisfied (we pre- sume) customers going through the turnstiles. The Ladies U.C.W. group should realize a tidy sum for their efforts to continue their godli works for another year ins church and community. * Mrs. Emma Malcolm of Uxbridge and ~ Mrs. Mitzi Fick of Toronto were a wel- come dinner visitors at Malcolm's this week to attend a birthday obser- vation (another 39th for your scribe) Next year we're going to have to push that ahead a decade we fear. é This weekend our "Minis-# teress of the Interior' and your Scribe absconded our responsibilities on the home- front for a weekend in New York City - home of the Big Apple and the Yankees. Hilites of the trip - took in one of the Broadway Stage Shows attended the River- boat nightclub and endured intolerable anguish traipsing from store to store in the interests of domestic peace - mans dilemma and ladi® delight usually referred to as "'Shoppin"'. While browsing in Saks on 5th Avenue seeing how the other half live or dress - we were pleasantly surprised to see Art Linkletter in the flesh so to speak. 'New York must be the Parade capital of the world. On Sunday there was adgrge parade on 5th Avenue consi ting of floats of Latin Ameri- ca - South American coun- tries and on Monday a larger than life Columbus Day Parade - a real big "Show" which went on for hours commemorating Columbus' discovery of America we presume - a big event in U.S.A. Mr. and Mrs. Percy Be and family of Port Elgin were holidaying this week with Norma's parents Mr. and Mrs. Norman Wilson and Mr. and Mrs. Ross Hurren and Holly. Mr. Ross Hurren has accepted em- ployment with General Motors in Oshawa starting this week. Mr. and Mrs. Murray Malcolm and Lana attendegy | Norwood Fair on Saturday. Lana was one of three spe- cail guest artists who partici- pated on the variety pro- gram.
