a CER Ra Borelians first of season Puss "N Boots, a kids fairy tale As the first production of the 1978-79 season, the Borelians, local theatre group will present a play, primarely to entertain the younger sect in the commun- ity. A real fairy tale, Puss 'n Boots, written by Dorothy Jane Goolding and musical arrangement by Geo. Beare will he staged in Town Hall 1873 Friday, December 1; Saturday, December 2; and Sunday, December 3. (See advertisement for further information.) The main character in the play is a marvelously clever Cat, played by Ed Canning, promising young actor. The young and not so young spectators will love the Cat's many sudden and clever ideas and tricky intrigues. Demanding roles in the fairy tale will.be portrayed by two well known local actors from the Town Hall stage. Playing the MC (Master of Ceremonies) is Terry Hodgins, best known from his excellent presen- tation of Mr. Whiteside in the Man Who Came To Dinner. A fairy tale would not be sufficiently authentic with- out the presence of a King. This part will be capably impersonated by Mark Lockyer, 'veteran' actor on the Town Hall stage during the last three years, perfor- ming successfully in HMS Pinafore, The Merry Widow, The Man Who Came To Dinner and lately in My Fair Lady. Other characters in the play are the Princess, played by Margaret Litt and the Miller's Son by Maurice Burgess parts are included in the play, and even the audience The young miller's son, Maurice Burgess on his knees in front of the King, Mark Lockyer, asking permission to marry the beautiful princess, Margaret Litt. Heron The members of the Brooklin Horticultural society, of which there are several members from Ashburn, enjoyed a delicious pot luck supper, in the United Church hall last Wednesday night. The tables were decorated with Christmas centre pieces with lighted candles and over head were lots of snow- flakes. The awards for the year were given out and the officers were installed for the coming year. About 15 ladies and several children attended the Coffee Hour in the Community Centre last Thursday mor- ning. This is always a nice relaxing time and a good way to meet new ladies of the community. The children have a good time together too. a Rev. McEntyre's sermon at Burns Church was taken from St. Luke the 4th chapter "Christ on the Margins of Life'. The Junior Choir sang "Sing, Sing, Praise and Sing" and the Senior Choir sang "I shall not want". Mrs. Glen Fleming and daughter Lori Fleming took care of Junior Church and Mrs. Wood took care of the nursery. Next Sunday being the first Sunday in Advent, the sacrement of Holy Com- munion will be observed. Mrs. Douglas Ashton spent a few days last week with Mrs. Don Purdy of Orange- ville. Mr. and Mrs. E. Heron were supper guests with Mr. and Mrs. W. McAndless and family of Don Mills last Sunday. Dates to remember in the near future are: December 15th. There will be a concert in the centre which will take the form of a puppet show. There will be Christmas Carols and Santa will arrive. December 17th will be the White Gift Service a Burns Church at 11:15 in the morning and there will be a Christmas eve candlelight- ing service on Christmas Eve.
