Truck driver George Burt found that there is some truth to the old saying when he ran into difficulties last week on the highway just west of Manchester. Just after midnight last Wednesday, he was wheeling his tractor-trailer east towards Port Perry when a tire blew on his truck. After changing the flat he was just about to pull away when a second tire on the truck went down. Another truck was sent out, but as the trailer was being jacked up to hook onto the new truck, the jack gave way and the trailer toppled over onto its side in the ditch. The silver lining was the friendliness that passers-by showed, with several stop- ping to ask if they could do anything to help. One man drove George into town to let him use the phone, and a nearby resident brought him hot coffee and breakfast in the morning. "It is nice to know there are still some decent people around," said George last Wednesday morning. Two heavy tow trucks were dispatched to the scene, and by late Wednes- day afternoon they had succeeded in righting the over-turned trailer and hauling it away.
