In a related matter, Mayor Lawrence Malcolm told the Star on Monday that he had received replies from three Ontario Cabinet ministers to a personal letter he had written to Premier William Davis and the entire Cabinet. The letter from the Mayor, written earlier this month, was in anticipation of a Cabinet decision on a sev- erance application by Mr. Rush which was turned down by the Land Division Comm- ittee this fall, and upheld by the Ontario Municipal Board. Mr. Rush appealed this severance rejection dir- ectly to the Cabinet. The replies which Mayor Malcolm had received as of Monday were from Envir- onment minister Harry Par- rott, Justice minister Robert Welch and Doug Wiseman, minister without portfolio. The Cabinet had been ex- pected to make-a decision on the severance application by Mr. Rush earlier this month, however, that was apparent- ly delayed until the re-zoning matter was handled by the courts. Township councillors are now hopeful that the Cabinet will deal with the severance appeal at the regular Cab- inet meeting scheduled for this Wednesday (November 29). If the Cabinet decides in favour of Mr. Rush on the severance application, Scugog's appeal of the court decision on the re-zoning might be weakened. By the same-token, some members of council feel that if the Cabinet rejects Mr. Rush's | Rod and Gun Banquet | §cygog land zoning SLE appeal will start | Monday in Toronto severance application, the re-zoning issue now before the courts would become as one councillor put it, "some- what academic." Scugog Township council is fighting this re-zoning and severance on two fronts: in the courts, and by personal pleas to the Ontario Cabinet. In addition to Mayor Law- rence Malcolm's letter, the contents of which were made public a week ago, councillor Reg Rose has sent a private letter to the Ontario premier and the members of Cab- inet. Mayor Malcolm told the Star on Monday that he has also sent a detailed letter of the entire issue to Ontario Liberal Party leader Stuart Smith. rn Louise Patterson Handicraft Guild by Beryl Espley The Guild met in the St. John's Presbyterian Church Hall on Wednesday, Novem- ber 8th for yet another excel- lent programme. The mem- bers had responded very well to the request for Christ- mas decorations and novel- ties. There was a fine collection of Christmas bells, balls, angels. snowmen, skates, napkin rings and tree decorations. All the exhibi- tors were happy to explain how to make the articles and to share their secrets with the rest of the members. The next meeting will be in a different format. The Guild will meet at 12 noon on Wednesday, December 13 for the annual Pot Luck Christ- mas party at the Church Hall. . as 55 " p & Nae D Rar » a, Sr Er AY lop [ap am [an [gn Jag [apn Tan Tam | po om lop fan Tope [apn [apn [apn [apn [ops [apn Jon Topo [apm apn [pn [pm Lope "cy [in [apn [apn | OOoaccacscaenesdsdses CACC 3 emi Eh (eh [oh th lh hh eh eh hh eh eh eh Toh (ee [oT .
