Preschool skating takes. place on Wednesday 'mornings. Mrs. Tennyson Samells is sick in the hospital in Port Perry; it is sincerely hoped that she is soon back on her feet. Tuesday evening card party met at the Town Hall in Blackstock with 19 tables playing. Winners were: 1-Percy Van Camp-85; 2-Marion Bell-85; 3-Mar- garet Wright-83; 4-Carson Watson-83; 5-Lloyd Fawns- 82; 6-Bessie McCullough-81, and low-Bessie Spencer. Wednesday evening- the U.C.W. evening unit met at the home of Sharon Essery to share in the Christmas Meet- ing. It was a lovely Candle light service with beautifully sung Christmas Carols precisely placed throughout. Joanne Lee opened the meeting asking Donna Kyte to read, "Jesus is the Light of the World". U.C.W. . members were asked to deliver two dozen (home baked) cookies to the church for the Sunday School's Candlelight Service to be held on December 17th. The 'holiday lunch', consisted of hot butter or mincemeat tarts with whip cream quenched with ice cold eggnog. The Diet club in Black- stock enjoyed a diet con- scious dinner at the Recrea- tional Centre on Wednesday evening at 7:00. The tables were gayly decorated for the festivé\ season and) each member "exchanged gift. The tree also sheltered a 'Success Shower for a Goal Achiever'. The lady that stuck to her guns and lost her weight, keeping it lost, received a special gift from each of the ladies attending. "A fair number of children and parents gathered at the Nestleton Community Centre on Sunday to take part in a Christmas Party organized by the Recreation Committee. Crusaders for Christ from the Port Perry - Baptist Church entertained with songs of Christ and. Christmas; also allowing the children to take an active part whenever possible. Blackstock United Church will hold their Annual Christ- mas Program at the Church on Sunday evening, Decem- ber 17th. The candlelight portion this year will take a different twist with a yule Log being lit on the front altar. The following Sunday evening a Christmas Eve Service will be held. The children of St. John's Anglican Church will present their Annual Choral Play on Sunday evening at 7:00 p.m. Following the service, gifts will be given to. the children and they will be treated to cupcakes and ice cream. The Christmas Eve Communion service will take place at 7:00 p.m. in the Church. All are welcome. Friday evening Don and Joanne Russell held a Christ- mas Fondue Party at their Cadmus home entertaining fellow Hydro workers: Wayne and Krista Walker of Bowmanville, Gord and Fran Gillies of Whitby, G.M. man, Larry Schryburt and Beth. The Andrews family of the Smith's Woods entertained' Mr. and Mrs. Bill Killin, and Marnie, Jennifer, and Andrew Lowe, all of Ajax for Saturday lunch. On Sunday Dave's Mother, Dora Grisley of Oshawa was an honoured dinner guest. Dana Russell's third Birth- day was full of games, songs, cake and presents as her friends helped her celebrate: Kyle and Beth Russell, Halie Vogel, Art Schryburt, Ian Andrews, Jennifer and Dana Lee,Leigh and Kim Rollo, and Danielle Walker of Bowmanville.
