Several enjoyed skating at the New Arena on Saturday evening and the special Christmas programme at Trinity United Church on Sunday evening. About forty guests, mem- bers of the Bethesda-Reach W.I. and husbands were entertained at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Biggle- stone on Friday evening. This was the annual W.I. Buffet dinner. After Dinner exchange and all "had a really delightful evening. Last Tuesday evening the Epsom U.C.W. held their Christmas party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. N. Tapscott There were about thirty guests. Jackie Skelding played several numbers on her guitar. Tracey Watson and Julie Ashton sang a lovely duet. Thank you girls, we enjoyed it very much. Mrs. Jones brought us news of our very dear friends Mr. and Mrs. Paul Baster, Julie and Cathy and told of her visit to their home in Hol- land. We were delighted to play fifteen minutes to a side, but fit in an envelope and postage is the same as for a letter. It had been decided to honour three former members with a gift cup and saucer. The new rates for the Guaranteed Income Supplement and Spouse's Allowance include the special $20 increase, recent- ly approved by Parliament, which will be paid into each household. The basic Old Age Security pension will rise in January to $167.21 from the present $164.74. The Guaranteed Income $137.28 from its current $115.55. The maximum sup- plement for a married couple, both pensioners, will increase to $114.15 each from $102.61. Thus, the new monthly total at the single rate for persons receiving both the basic Old Age Security pen- SULT HT CTT of the basic pension and maximum supplement will provide a monthly payment of $281.36 each or $562.72 for the couple, compared to the 1978 rates of $267.35 and $534.70.
