Action filled third period gives MoJacks 6-3 victory by Danny Miller The Port Perry MoJacks "climbed into a third place tie with Lindsay and Cobourg as they defeated Lindsay ~ Muskies 6-3 in Lindsay on Friday, January 19th. The first two periods of the game were slow paced and plagued with . numerous whistles. But the third was action filled as play heated up and Port Perry goalten- der Ray Gibson was forced to make some tough stops. Bill Speer set up the open- ing goal for Lindsay as he carried the puck into the Port zone, took it around the net, and dumped it out in front to an unguarded John Lucas. Time of the goal was 54 seconds. Port Perry controlled the game for the remainder of the period with some good forechecking and solid hitting. Bill Owen and Phil Cochrane missed excellent scoring chances but played well. MoJacks got on the board with 4:17 left in the opening period when Lindsay's Gary Beukeboom was off for hook- ing. Owen carried the puck down the ice and passed off to Brad Nicholson who slipped it passed Kevin Elliot. Port Perry hit again forty seconds later as Darrin Jobb scored on a rebound from Mark Jobb. Mike Adam also played a strong game along the blue line. The trio of Bridge, Coch- rane and Greiner gave the Cougars goalie fits all eve- ning and counted for 11 points. After Darrin Jobb was thrown from the game, Colin Wackett was moved to forward with Nicholson and Mark Jobb and this line was dangerous all evening. While coach Doug Scott was pleased with the victor- ies which all but cinch third place, he has to be more than happy with the fact that MoJacks gave up only five goals in the two games. The team has the scoring punch with two potent lines and if it can keep the opposition off the board will be tough to beat in the playoffs. MoJacks final home game of the regular schedule is this Sunday night against Stouffville and they have matches this week against Uxbridge and Port Hope. stove oil and gasoline; Port Perry based; qualified professionals; Ron Davidson 985-8625 RON DAVIDSON I: FUELS LTD.
