Lindsay have returned from spending a three week holiday with their son Robert, in San Jose, California. It was a treat last Satur- day when a group of rela- tives and friends from Toronto, Blackstock and area assembled at the home of Mr. and Mrs. A. Van Ravensway. During the day the group gathered at Pine- wood Place in Myrtle where they enjoyed a day of sleigh- riding, skating, skiing and tobogganing. At five the sports minded group were invited back to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Van Raven- sway for a delicious supper. YOUNG MEMBERS St. John Ambulance has Cadet and Crusader Divi- sions whose members, aged 11 to 21, learn First Aid and Home Nursing. They work as volunteers in nursing homes, children's wards in hospitals, provide First Aid service for minor hockey leagues. The Thursday evening euchre winners were Ladies: High - Ruby Tripp, 2nd - Laurrena Bright and Low - Annie Johnston. Men's High - Phyllis Clark, 2nd - Harold McDiarmid and low Doris Devlin. Loan hand series winner was Mrs. Reid Cook. } Fred and Aileen Olsen have returned from an en- joyable 2 week vacation in Hawaii. This was a special pleasure as the trip was given to them, as a gift from their children, Shelley, Tom and Ed for their 25th wed- ding anniversary. The Couples Club met on Friday evening. This was their first gathering of the New Year. They met at the Community Centre and a dance was enjoyed by about 60 people. Each couple was to invite a guest couple to the dance, so there was a good turnout. A live band of local talent entertained. A good variety of dance music was played - from square dan- cing to waltzs, Tea and coffee and a light lunch was served after the OFF OUR REG dance by Bruce and Myrtle Snelgrove and Grant and Eva Hunter. The next gathering for the Couples Club will be held Friday, February 16th. An old fashioned horse drawn sleigh ride has been planned for that evening. Everyone is welcome to join and if you wish for further information call Beth Willes at 985-7032. Mr. and Mrs. Les Beacock entertained 8 couples for a euchre party, one evening recently. Mr. and Mrs. Merv Pugh spent last week with their son Ivan and his wife Linda at their home in Trout Creek. This week the 4H leaders for Ontario County will be attending their workshop.in the Prince Albert Com- munity Centre. Any girls, 12 years of age 3 or over, who are interested in joining this unit can call Mrs. Pugh at 985-2146 or Mrs. Solomon at 985-2145. The couple joined the choir here in the fall of 1940 and "retired" late last year. Actually, their involvement with church choirs goes back even further as Mr. Reesor first sang with the U.C. choir in 1925 in Markham, and Mrs. Reesor joined a choir in Turonto a year later. Course for care of hp handicapped children - A special course in the supervision and care of handicapped children and 'adults is being offered at Durham College starting this week. The course is being offered in co-operation with the Durham Region Family Relief Service, and success- ful completion will allow a person to care for a mentally handicapped child or adult for short periods of time in order to give the parents of the handicapped child a chance to take overnight holidays and vacations. The relief service has been set up by the Durham Association for the Mentally Retarded, recognizing that families with handicapped children or adults at home need to get away for week- .ends or longer periods up to City Brass here Friday Tickets for Toronto City Brass concert in Town Hall 1973 are still available at the Port Perry Star, Irwin Smith Music Ltd. or by telephoning 985-3043.
