This had to be one of the best. games I have seen all year. Both teams were trying so hard to out skate, out shoot, and out check one another. The Legionaires opened the scoring at 6:25 of the first period with a goal scored by ) Ziebart Genuine Ziebart Process , LIEBART SPECIAL PACKAGE $219.00 Ziebart Shineguard Interior Guard Until January 31, 1979. Final score was 4-3 Legion- aires. Novice tie game, lose shoot-out by Bonnie Solomon Port Perry Novice All Stars were host to the Bowmanville Toros on Friday, January 26. With Stacey Ballingal playing as though he had never been away, Port came out the victors with a score of 5-0 giving Ballingal another shut-out to his record. Goals for this. game were credited to Warren Geer, Brad Menzies 2, Ron Craw- ford, John Lally. Assists went to Mark Barkey, Jamie Menzies. With their spirits high Port travelled to Flesherton hoping to come home the champions of this tour- nament! The Port orange men went up against the team from Meaford. Both teams fought hard resulting in a 0-0 score at the end of the third period. . The teams then went into two five-minute overtime periods with the score still 0-0. The rules of the tour- nament were then to have a shoot-out. The first three men selec- ted for our team were John Lally, Brad Menzies, Warren Geer. Menzies started off with his opponent and missed. Lally and his opponent shot and scored simultaneously. Geer went down next and hit the post. The last man for our team was stopped cleanly but the heartbreaker was Meaford had scored. It was all over. Meaford then went on to win against the host team 5-2. Coaches Barkey and Solomon felt the teams were evenly matched with great fore-checking, back check- ing and strong defensive plays that kept both next to no good scoring chances throughout the game.
