If you are in the mood for a funfilled evening, the club members are planning a special Valentine Euchre next Wed. evening February 14, at the Centre. Hope the weatherman will co-operate, and the response is rewar- ding. Congratulations! to Brenda Thistle of Caesarea who was the lucky winner of the Port Perry Kinsmen Bingo jackpot last week which amounted to $300.00. Donneral are enjoying the South, but temperatures have been below normal at times. Mrs. Bill Fortune is sche- duled to go into Humber Memorial Hospital, Weston, on February 13 for surgery. Mildred hopes to be back to her teaching duties at L'Amoreaux Collegiate in about three weeks time. Mildred's friends in Nestle- ton and surrounding area wish her a speedy recovery. The day kicked off with the crowning of the King (Ron Linton), the Queen (Mar- garet Hofstee), the Prince (Terry Barton) and the Princess (Kelly Owen). Following this, began a series of outdoor events which took many students outside for some cold weather amusement. At the Service Sunday morning Rev. Victor Parsons sermon was based on forgiveness - the Theme - As We Forgive. He left many excellent thoughts for Church members to take home. Scripture taken from _Thilenos Chapter 10 verses 18 and Matt. Chapter 18 verses 21 to 35. A tragic fire at the home of the Harper family on Summit Drive, Caesarea resulted in death to John Harper and his daughter Elaine. Mrs. Harper and son Brian escaped with burns and subsequent frost bite. Brian has been released from Port Perry hospital but Mrs.' Harper is still in Oshawa Hospital with in- juries of undetermined severity. Free skating at the Scugog Arena brought out one of the largest crowds of the day's events. Almost 300 students and teachers aided in an exciting turnout. Port Perry Star won top honours in the Ontario Weekly Newspaper Association's Annual Newspaper Competition. Competing in the class of tabloid newspapers with circulation under 3,500, the Star scored the highest number of points in the category - General Excellence.
