After the session with their coach the Bowmanville athletes returned to the floor and threw in six straight' points. Port Perry could not recover and they lost 45-41. Todd Wilbur led the visitors with 16 points: Pete Stone added ten and Scott Wallace, who played a strong game, had eight. Two days later the Red- men met the top place team in the LOSSA quarter finals in the GL Roberts Lakers in Oshawa. It came as no surprise when the Lakers routed the visiting team 51-34. The opening quarter was one of the lowest scoring periods all season as Roberts took a 4-2 lead. The low score cannot be attributed to sound defensive play but rather the inconsistent shoot- ing of both teams. Port Perry did not want for chances as they had three shots inside thirty seconds left and missed all of them. Brett Oosterman missed two of those. Port's lone score came with 1:20 re- maining when Todd Wilbur connected as a layup. The hosts took control in the middle periods as they succeeded in stepping up the game's tempo. They took a 25-18 lead at the half and increased it to 43-24 after three quarters. The last eight minutes saw the game revert to its slow pace as the Lakers held on for the win. The Lakers would even- tually win the LOSSA cham- pionship midget division. Todd Wilbur and Pete Stone each had fourteen points to lead the Redmen. They had been the two top Redmen players this season. Port Perry midget coach John Rodway summed up the season for his team. "Our kids had a real good season.
