yo NY ER eA Sdn Fae A he BRIE A SI ve Faia 3 TIRE re Sod Hd Buying Corvettes in Canada has become a profitable business for American businessmen such as 'Luey Waldon (above) of Fort Worth Texas. Mr. Waldon is seen here after taking delivery of a new 1979 Corvette from Beare Motors in Port Perry. Mr. Waldon told the Star - prior to heading backto his " dealership® in Texas that * the above car is the 30th he has purchased from GM dealers in southern Ontario since last October, and it will be the eighteenth he has driven back himself. Even with the cost of a one-way ticket to Toronto, .the gas and accomodation' for the two day, 1400 mile a» Canadian Corvettes going south trip back to Fort Worth, Mr. Waldon says that he can make more money on the Canadian purchased car than one he can buy in the USA. The reason for this is the value of the Canadian doilar. For every Cana- dian dollar spent in Canada there is between 15-18 cents exchange 'and therefore a = $16,000 Canadian Corvette will have about $2500 taken off the purchase price in American dollars. There is also a rebate on the excise tax. Mr. Waldon says he will be back in Canada again very soon. He has another. five Corvettes' waiting at dealerships in Ontario to take south of the border.
