Ives Florist took the Tween championship over Irvins Angels with a score of 5-2. Both teams gave their best and played an excellent game. Congratulations gals, you were all terrific. The pace setter for Ives was Rhonda White with all five goals. Assists were credited to Janet Dean, Bev Archi- bald, and Jill Kendall. Scoring for the Angels saw Jackie Abraham from Debbie Warriner and Debbie from Jackie. "This was a fast, hard played game with 11 penal- ties assessed; 3 to Ives and 8 to Irvins. Ives Florist and Childrens - Boutique finished on top and both teams will be presented a league trophy. Congratu- lations to both these teams and we wish all the girls good luck in the play offs. Saturday our Tweens hosted teams from Oshawa and picked up one win and a loss both games were well played and showed a good team effort. Ives Florist defeated Oshawa 8 to 6 with both teams picking up two penalties. Scoring for Ives saw Rhonda White. with 6 goals and one assist while her linemate Janet Dean picked up 2 goals and 4 assists. Game two for the Tweens saw Irving Angels defeated 5 to 3. Five penal- ties were assessed in this match, four to Port and one to Oshawa. Scoring for the Angels was Debbie Warriner with two goals and 1 assist, Julie Abraham with a goal and an assist, Jackie Haugen and Michelle -Newell picked up assists. Our Belles had three games this past week. Chris Allen Aluminum and Child- ren's Boutique played to a 5 to 5 tie on February 25th, 163 Simcoe St.S:, Oshawa 579-8752 Scoring for Chris Allen was Sherri Allen with a hattrick, Bonnie Burton and Chris English each picked up single markers. Assists were credited to Bonnie Burton and Nancy Young. Scoring for Children's was Karen Young and Wendy * McDougall with a pair each. Paula Haugen picked up a single. Michelle Andrews was credited with a pair of assists and Chris Heurkins a single assist. Six penalties were assessed with each team picking up 3 apiece. Saturday both Belle teams journeyed to Oshawa and came home winners. Both coaches feel these were excellent well played games and it would appear that both teams are peaking just in time for play-offs. Chris Allen over Oshawa 3 to 2. Scoring for Allens - Sherri Allen, Chris English and Gail Sandison each with single markers. Assists were credited to Gail Sandison and Brenda Foote. Child- ren's Boutique came out on top of a 10 to 7 score against Oshawa. This was a fast well played game on behalf of both teams. Wendy Mec- Dougall was the big gun for Children's putting the ring away for five big ones, Paula Haugen was credited with a' goal and an assist. Karen Young found the mark for two goals and one assist, Chris Heurkins had one goal and four assists, Daphne Butt had 1 goal and 1 assist, while Brenda Foote and Doris Riseborough each received single assists. EAA LEAN YE Bowmanville leads series The Bowmanville Eagles have taken a three to one lead in the best of seven series with Gananoque G-Men following a 7-6 victory on Sunday night. The teams were to go back at it again on Tuesday night in Gananoque, and return to Bowmanville tonight for a sixth game if necessary. The series has been a tight one so far with all games decided by close scores, and two of the contests have gone into overtime. Bowmanville won the first two games by scores of 5-3 and 7-6 in overtime. The G-Men took the third game in overtime by a 5-4 count, and the Eagles took 'a comman- ding lead in the series with a 7-6 win Sunday night. In that game, Eagles .Jerry Johnston, Ralph Crydermaii was the scoring star with four goals and two assists, while John Conboy added a pair and Jerry Leddy chipped in with a singleton. : The Eagles out-shot the G-Men 54-29 and goal-tender Steve Dailey kept the score close with an outstanding performance in the nets for Gananoque. Bowmanville got the usual strong performance from Gary Nemisz and Brad Godfrey, while back on the blue line Rick. Scott and John Kane both played solid defensive hockey. After knocking off the Port Perry MoJacks two weeks ago, Bowmanville got into the playoffs with the G-Men by whipping "the Cobourg PeeWees lose and win against Oshawa teams Stone's Pee Wee 2 played an exhibition game against the Canadian Tire Red Wings on Friday, March 9. The boys were not .able to tally during the first period letting Oshawa score three unanswered goals in the first period. Jeff Wray assisted by Mike Fluke and Dean Haugen scored our first goal in the second period. Two goals were scored in the third by Ian Dickson from the stick of Dean Haugen. bl Kennedy "popped it ' from the set-up of Jeff Wray and Kevin Fowler. The game ended 8-3 for the Red Wings. Monday, March 12, the Pee Wee 2 suited up to meet the Oshawa Bruins. Dean Haugen opened the scoring with a good unassisted goal. 'Two more goals were tallied inthe first. Jeff Wray scored from Mark McConnell and our Trev. Kennedy com- pleted a goal shot from the set-up from Clay Dempsey and Kevin Fowler. The Stones couldn't find the net during the second period and this let Oshawa score three. The Stones got rolling once again in the third and chalked up 4 goals. Scoring for our boys were Jeff Wray from Freddie Cockerton, Fred ,Cockerton from Dean Haugen and Jeff Wray, Dean Haugen from "Mark McConnell and a beauttullinaseite marker by Dean !Smith. Two of Canada's top competitive figure skaters - will be an added feature at the Little Britain Figure Skating Club's first ice show "Toys Come Alive' being held in the Little Britain Community Centre, Friday, March 30 at 7:30 p.m. Miss Heather Kemkaran, as previously advertised, is unable to perform due to medical problems, however, Miss Debbie Albright, who placed third in the Senior Ladies Event at the 1979. Canadian Championships' will perform in both Jr & Sr. scenes, also nineteen year old Mr. Gary Beacom, who placed fourth in the Sr. Mens Event at. this year's Canadian Championships. The show will also include all of the home club members under the direction of club professional Mrs. Jayne Miller. . : Stouffville : and Atoms fied, two games each by Carol Wilbur On Monday, March 12, the Malmont Farm atoms met Stouffville in the second game of play-offs and went down to defeat in overtime 4-2, Scoring for Port were Lee Wilbur and Jim White, each had one goal. Tim Cannon, Jeff Cockerton\and Jay Van close contest which saw Port come home the victors 4-2 after overtime. Scoring for Port were Craig Menzies with one goal and one assist, Dave Burnett, Chris Lane and Jim White each had one goal. Greg Warriner and Steven Durham each had an assist. On Friday, March 16 the Green Machine did it again in overtime by defeating Stouffville 3-2. Robbie Baker had a goal and an assist for Port. Chris - Lane and Jim White each had a goal.
