White at the piano at the Lions Club Musical festival, Sunderland. \ Mrs. Fred Hobbs of Simcoe St. entertained" a group of ladies at her home recently. Pouring tea was Miss Elfrida Hall of New Zealand, who at the present time is visiting with her cousin Mrs. Phyllis Hamilton of Blackstock. During the afternoon Mrs. Dorothy Naples of Port Perry showed some very interesting slides of rug hooking. This group of ladies is very interested in this craft and meet regularly at the home of Miss Marjorie Williams of Port Perry where they make many beautiful items. A number of these will be on display at the Louise Patterson Annual Exhibition to be held this year in June at the Latcham Centre. The ladies are also members of the Ontario Hooking Craft Guild and are busy making plans to attend their annual exhibition to be held in April at London, Ontario. We hope day by day - by Mrs. E. Heron The ladies Bible Class met in the church hall for their * March meeting last Wednes-- day evening. Mrs. D. Ashton, President gave a helpful message entitled Ready for Service, taken from Romans 12 for her opening devotions. Mrs. W. Gardner had charge of the program -and Mrs. W. Hopkins gave a very interesting talk about the Hymn writers Isaac Watts and Charles Wesley. Mrs. Hopkins also showed slides she had taken while visiting England. Two very interes- ting facts that you might be amazed at is that Charles sley wrote over seven thousand hymns, many of which are used today and he was one of nineteen children and she taught them all to read beginning at age four. Next Sunday Church service will be at the regular hour 11:15 a.m. and Rev. McEntyre's message will be "Dealing with the Devil" continuing with the current Lenten series of messages. Church School is at 10 a.m. and there is always a nursery and Jr. church for the young children during church service time. About forty adults and children enjoyed the games night last Friday evening in the church hall. Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Webster of Manilla visited recently with their aunt Mrs. Daisy Parrinder. Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Bath have returned to their home here after visiting for three months with their daughter Judy and her husband in Florida. Mr. and Mrs. E. Heron visited with Mrs. W. Heron of Sunderland last Friday. The sympathy of the community goes out to Mrs. Mildred Routley and Miss Eileen Hamill in the death of their brother Barry Hamill of Manilla.
