b \ On farm grain drying conference April 12 Increasing energy costs are forcing farmers to find ways to reduce energy requirements of one of the largest consumers on the farm - the grain dryer. In response to the demand for information on this topic, - a special On-Farm Grain Drying Conference will be held at Guelph, April 12. Several farmers, working under this program, will discuss their experiences with high-temperature drying, dryeration, and low- temperature drying sys- tems. The use of heat lamps, heat exchangers and solar- assisted drying will also be discussed. The new monthly total at the single rate for persons receiving both the basic Old Age Security pension and maximum Guaranteed Income Supplement will be $310.28. For a married couple, both pensioners, the combination of the basic pension and maximum supplement will provide a payment of $573.42 for the couple monthly. The basic Old Age Security pension will rise in April to - $170.39 from the present ; $167.21. The Guaranteed friooine Supplement is paid to pensioners whose income, apart from the Old Age Security pension, is limited. . The amount of the supple- ment varies in'kelation to the amount of income. The maximum Guaran- teed Income Supplement for 'a single person, or a married person whose spouse is not a pensioner and is not receiv- ing a Spouse'ss Allowance, will go up in APril to $139.89 from its current $137.28.
