€ * The 22nd annual Sunder- land Lions Club Music Festival was held March 5th through to March 8th. The B ® Vocal and beginners piano : classes were adjudicated by Mr. Ross Metcalf, ARTC, with Mrs. Greta Parrott judging the senior piano classes. All instrumental classes were adjudicated by 'Mr. Demond Tyrell, B.A., A.R.T.C. - The following are some of the results of the festival: Vocal: Girl's Solo Trained Voice, 11 to 15 years: Joyce Lane-86 - (first place); ® e¢ Andrea MacGregor-84 (third place); Andrea received a first class honours mark. of 84 in the January Royal Conservatory of Music Gr. 1 Theory exam. A Less than 2 Years Study: Annabel Walsh-83 (second place); Boy's Solo, Trained Voice, Less than 2 Years Study: Lawrence Walsh-83 (first place); "Girl's Solo, Trained Voice, Over 16 Years: Debbie Menzies-87 (firgf place) ; Lois Van Camp -85 (second place). - Lois recently completed the Grade VI 'Royal Conser- vatory Vocal Exam. Girl's Solo, Trained Voice Open Class: Audrey Beauchamp-86 (first place). Piano: Piano Solo, 12 years, less than 2 years study: Korin Drew-80 (second place) ; Beginners, 7 years and under: Ryan Free-80; Older Beginners, 10 years and under: Craig Free-82; Jamie Mahony-80; Gregory Skerratt-77. Grade one, 8 years and under: Brett Drew-79. All the above are students of Eleanor Bailey. Cornish students under the direction of Mrs. Fairburn, Mr. White, Mr. Taylor and Mr. Bierness recently completed a week of participation in the Sunder- land Lion's Club Music Festival. During the week there were 49 entries in 25 classes of competition, and all students certainly rep- resented their school very well. Cornish Band - 1st - 92. : WANTED Adults with Emphysema, Chronic Bronchitis or Asthma "FREE BETTER BREATHING COURSE PORT PERRY HIGH SCHOOL beginning MONDAY, MAY 7th at 7:00 P.M. The Port Perry Figure Skating Club "Splashdown Car' all but disappeared beneath the waves of Scugog _ with the mild weather last Saturday morning. Club officials say it will be hauled out today [March 28] and the timing device in the car will" be inspected to determine which ticket number will win the $1000 grand prize. Help for respiratory victims A "Better Breathing"' Course for adults with emphysema, chronic bronchitis or severe asthma will begin on Monday, May 7th at the Port Perry High School; osa Street, Port Perry. This Course, offered by tHe Lung Association as a free Christmas Seal Service, will run for eight consecutive sessions during a four week period, on - Mondays (ex- cluding May 21st, Victoria Day) and Wednesdays from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. __ simple tolerance exercises, and- most sessions will feature guest speakers on various topics related to the management. of respiratory disease. All exercise pro- cedures will be under the direction of two licensed physiotherapists. This is a basic program, designed to improve the quality of daily life for the older person with respiratory problems.
