Chris Cliff announced that the next Parent Education Programme will take place on April 25th at 7:30 in the Library. Dr. Stewart will speak on children's health and safety. A member of St. John's Ambulance will be on hand and a health nurse will talk on Nutrition. The coffee hour will take place in the Art Room combined with parents visiting the Science Fair. Plans are underway, in co-operation with the Durham Board of Education, for a fall session on "Parent Effectiveness Training". This ten week course is designed for both parents to attend. Details at a later date. Alice Waldriff and Brenda Bryant reported on the Fair project. The School will sponsor a class in the parade, 'Best Decorated Cardboard Box on Wheels'. Plans are underway for a float for the Blackstock Fair Parade. It will be in honour of the International Year of the Child. Any parent interested in assisting with the preparations or wanting their child on the float should contact Kathy Whit or Alice Waldriff. President Chris Rollo passed on the information that the health inspector had asked that a soap dispenser be placed in the bathroom. FAMILY LIFE SERIES Charlie Norris, who is Durham family counsellor for Scugog, told the meeting that a Family Life series is being planning for Scugog with the first two sessions to be held at the end of October, -and two more sessions held next April. Mr. Norris said some of the topics of these seminars include "The Changing Family", '"'Adolescence", "Death and Dying", and "Human Sexuality'. He said that experts in these fields will be at the seminars which will be held at Town Hall, 1873. The Family Life Series has been held successfully in several other municipalities in Durham Region. The Scugog Social Planning council was formed in 1974, and its purpose is to provide information and assistance to a wide variety of groups and organizations active in the area of social development, and help new organizations get started. Marion Elizabeth Couper- thwaite, daughter of Mr. and - Mrs. H.J. Couperthwaite, became the bride of Leslie Orval Jermey, son of Mr. and Mrs. Orval Jermey, Orillia, in Greenbank United Church. Rev. Roundell of- ficiated and Mrs. Len Jarvis played the wedding music. Given in marriage by her parents, the bride wore a gown of satin crepe, with a sheer lace overskirt (made by Mrs. Don McKean). Her headdress of beads and white flowers held a shoulder length veil. She Martilla Libertarian candidate Bob Martilla, a 42-year old carried coral roses. Shirley Miller of Winnipeg, cousin of the bride was Maid of Honour, Sylvia Jermey, Orillia, sister of the groom and Ginny Weldon, Stouff- ville, were bridesmaids while Heather Couperthwaite was flowergirl for her aunt. They all wore empire style gowns with shoestring straps of peach polyester with floral tie-up front jackets. Each carried nosegays of rose buds. Robert Couperthwaite, brother of the bride, welcomed the guests at the door while Byron Tinney of Orillia was best man, and ushers were Calvin Worrell and John Mowsky of Orillia, all friends of the groom. They were attired in dark brown suits. The reception followed in the church basement and later at the home of the bride's parents with the bride's mother receiving, gowned in a blue sheer dress with a pink corsage. She was assisted by the groom's mother wearing olive green with a yellow corsage. Prior to her marriage the bride was honoured with a presentation and shower from co-workers at Chesebrough Ponds, Markham; a miscellaneous shower by Mrs. Vera Ireson, Markham; a family shower in Orillia; and community showers in Orillia, Marsh Hill and Greenbank. Marion had been very ac- tive in 4-H work here with 24 Homemaking and 15 Agricultural Projects to her credit, as well as helping out by leading.
