There were only 21 people in atten- dance. President-elect Jan Franssen labelled it 'a very bad average," and stated that there should have been 500 people there. He was critical of the apathy shown by people who did not appear. 'Everybody seems to be too busy. Just not enough interest," he declared. Mr. Franssen did say that he was pleased to be elected to the most important posi- tion in the Port Perry Minor Hockey Association. Originally there were no nominations for first and second vice-president but later in the evening, after the meeting had been closed, Grant Williams and Paul Pelow were elected for these executives. Leo Taylor was selected for this new post. This season's president, Joe Waldinsperger, was named as Past President. Six Directors were chosen which is four less than the maximum allowed in the Port Perry Minor Hockey Association Constitution and By-Laws booklet. Since they were the only people in the running there was no election. The Directors will be: John Christie, Ron McAllister, Jan McAllister, Doug Scott, Dorothy Scott, and Muriel Statham. Pelow and Williams were also chosen but when they were named as executives they were scratched. The four remaining positions may be filled at a later date. The Treaurer"s Report that followed included some interesting figures. The P.P.M.H.A. spent $35,291.68 this year and over $20,000 went for ice time alone. The association averaged 42.5 hours on the ice per week. There were 342 hockey players registered. One major constitutional change drew approximately an hour of discussion. The course will be run over roads in the North end of Oshawa as follows: Start at Durham College Sports Complex, through the College grounds to Simcoe Street North, rorth on Simcoe past Windfields Farms to Columbus (here the 6.65 mile race will return to Durham College, north to Raglan, the 9th Con- cession, west on the 9th to Thornton Road, south on Thornton to the 5th Conces- sion. East on the 5th to the back entrance of the College to the finish beyond the student car park for a total of 13.1 miles. This is an excellent route, with a good pavement surface and soft verge if prefered. The scenery at the end of May will be beautiful, with lots of shade trees and hopefully blossoms and sunshine. After the gentle uphill run to Raglan, there follows a mile of rolling hillside country, with. the long downhill run along Thornton to the 5th Conces- sion. A short testing hill just before the entrance to Durham College and a long gentle downhill straight finish. . The first entries have already been received and hopefully lots of runners and joggers will be training for the event. Entries have been sent to all of Durham Region, Metro Toronto, Peterborough, Port Hope, Cobourg. Further entries will be distributed at the Ottawa Marathon on May 15th. The Blossom Festival Road Race in Niagara on May 12th and other events in the area. A number of high class Canadian athletes have been approached and further details will follow in future releases.
