We Guild held their regular thank these members for monthly meeting on Thurs- day, May 3rd at the Town Hall (our usual 1st Wednes-. day night of the month will * be observed next time) with special guest Mrs. Pat Bullock presenting an enjoy- able talk on pottery. As usual, a portion of the evening was used for busi- ness, and we were pleased to hear that-Muriel Watson has consented to act as Trea- surer for the remainder of the year. We thank you, Muriel, for your willingness to help. The Treasurer's job is an important one. The elected treasurer was Sharon Ayer and we were sorry to say goodbye to her. She has been associated with the Guild since it's beginning and has made a very valu- able contribution to the growth of the group in many ways. We will miss her very much. More plans were finalized for the Fall Show in the formation of two commit- tees. The Display Commit- tee will be chaired by Chris Renison, and her assistants will be: Barbara Philpott, Eleanor Zenglein and Eileen Draper. Lyn Franklin and Freda Vernon will be in charge of the Bake Table. Raffle tickets are avail- able now from any Guild member, and the price is 3 tickets for one dollar. The first prize is a handmade quilt; second prize - a hooked rug and third prize - a pair of decoupage pictures. These tickets will be drawn on the last day of the show in October. Tickets will also be available at the Port Perry Fair. Members only may take advantage of the workshops now available; Susan- Watson will teach crochet; Bernice Daniels Is Enpevesing offering their time and talents. Just a reminder about the Manvers Craft Show on May 26 and 27 from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. both days; and the Louise Patterson Guild's Show and Sale on Saturday, June 2nd at the Latcham Centre. Our own Mary Lou Carnaghan will be demon- strating her pine arts at the Manvers Show. Do try and take in both these events. They are excellent shows. A thankyou is extended to Susan Watson, our Vice- President, for her '"quick- crafts" table at each meeting. A good deal of preparation goes into this feature, and we look forward to seeing "what's new" from Susan each month. As was mentioned earlier, Mrs. Pat Bullock, R.R.2, Port Perry, supplied us with a fascinating evening of pottery information. Pat brought along some samples of her work - a kettle, mugs, cookie jars, vases - and no two pieces were alike. This is what is so wonderful about the handmade craftpiece - it bears the mark of its maker and it is his or her creation alone. Pat described the steps - and procedures necessary to produce the finished product and a question and answer period followed. Refreshments were served after Pat's presentation. The next Guild meeting will be on Wednesday, June 6th at the Town Hall at 7:45 p.m. St. John Ambulance advises that eye injuries need medical attention as soon as possible.
