Last year over forty people contributed their hand crafted articles of a wide variety to the store. This weekend Mildred has been in the process of unpacking and pricing the beautiful new items for the year. She says it is just like Christmas and has a "ball" every 8pring opening the new "goodies". Items include knitted and crocheted articles, sewing, woodenware, and ceramics, in a host of personal and household crafts. Victor Parsons presen- ted a fine message - the theme being "Uv Front" and based his topic «n Scriptures I Corinthians 13, and Matthew 18 1-6. In the Choir Miss Gail Malcolm sang "The Joy of the Lord" a very appropriate anthem for Family Sunday with Mrs. Gwen Malcolm at the organ. Ushers were: Mr. Grahame Fish and Mr. Norman Mairs. District Annual Mrs. J. Wygerde, Mrs. Wm. Bolan, Mrs. M. Firlit, Mrs. L. Malcolm, Mrs. F. Dayes, and Mrs. A. Beacock represented Nestleton W.I. at Durham West District Annual held at Maple Grove on Wednesday, May 9th. Faith Festival Miss Gail Malcolm atten- ded the Faith Festival held in Northminster Church, Oshawa, Friday and Satur- day, May 11 and 12th. The inspiring story tellers were Lynn Tomlinson, Steven Allin, Terry Smith, and Rev. Norman McKenzie. All delegates report a meaning- ful two days, and came home with much food for thought. Prize winners were 1st - Olive Frayer, 2nd - Ralph Day, 3rd - Ken Minshall. A special Mother's Day prize was won by Eva MacDonald. The Euchre will be held next Wednesday evening as usual and hopefully the expert card players will be on hand to lend the needed support and interest. The Ladies Auxiliary work hard to make these evenings enjoyable - a yard sale will be held in june. More information at a later date. Ladies Aid Nestleton Ladies Aid met in the Presbyterian Church Hall on Thursday afternoon. The President Mrs. Howard Lee welcomed all to the meeting which opened with the favourite hymn, "What a Friend we Have in Jesus", followed by the Lord's Prayer. Mrs. S. McNeeley led the Devotional period dealing with "Contentment" and a prayer for ill members. Miss Ruth Proutt, Secretary Treasurer read the minutes and the Financial Report. Mrs. Lee thanked the members for their baking donations to the Hospital Spring Fair. Appreciation was extended for cards, visits, Easter lillies, and fruit from folks remembered during illness and cards were signed to those still on the sick list. Mrs. Geo. Heaslip will tend to flower purchases. The Program Convenor centered her program around Mother's Day. Mrs. Geo. Heaslip read "Home" the joys of coming home after a vacation. Mrs. Fred Dayes read "Old Time Sunday Sings" the family gathered around the piano singing favourite hymns. Mrs. Grant Thompson read "A Parable for Mothers" the joy Mother feels in teaching her family courage, strength and service to God. The favourite hymn "Dare To Be A Daniel" and the Mizpah Benediction closed the meeting. The Ordination Service for Miss Dorothy Bulmar will be held in Sonya Presbyterian Church on Friday evening, June 15. Miss Bulmar's Graduation ceremony was observed last Wednesday evening at Convocation Hall. She has attended Knox College while serving on the Nestleton Sonya Charge for the past four years. Pancake Breakfast The Pancake Breakfast for Mother's Day, Sunday May 13 held at the Nestleton Community Centre, was very successful with a goodly number of folk interested in a substantial breakfast participating. Trees for Canada Day The Cubs & Scouts tree planting project went off well, representatives from the various groups: were present, parents provided transportation and assisted in the operation. The dull, overcast weather was ideal for the planting. .The trees are supplied.by the Ministry of Natural Resources and the funds are used for the Scouting Movement nationally and locally.
