20 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Wednesday, July 4, 1979 There was plenty of action at the Scugog Soccer Park on Simcoe Street North last Thursday night with several house league teams playing on the different fields. This is the first season for play at the new park and an official opening complete with parade and exhibition contests is planned for Saturday, July 14. ' Blue Team-5 White Team - 2 The Blue Team again proved superior. The goals for the Blue Team were scored by Brian Appleby who got one and Ryan Lar- occa got four. Up until then both teams had had several breakaways which fizzled out in the penalty boxes. The second half saw Daryl Leath- erdale scramble the ball past the Whippets stand in goalie and Daryl made no mistake a little later with a good clean shot into the net. Both teams started playing better positional soccer with the defences dominating and Jason Buller for the Bomb- ers and Fref Duff for the Whippetts being outstand- ing. One of the Whippets raids saw Jamie Henshil- wood score his second and the tying goal from a Joey Jackman rebound. ATOM Greenbank Chicken Coop Dough Boys -3 Colin Ball Motors Mustangs - 1 On Wednesday the Green- bank Chicken Coop Dough Boys began their home game series with a 3 to 1 win over the Colin Ball Motors Mus- tangs. Carl Bayliss scored all three goals with an assist from Rick Perry on the second goal. The Mustangs goal was scored by Barry Willerton on a penalty shot.
