Greenbank area news by Helen McKean Our Greenbank Vacation Bible School will be held July 23 to July 27, from 1 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. All children ages 4-14 are invited to attend. Anyone of Brownie age 6-9 Ploughmans celebrate 60 years married Stanley and Flossie Ploughman were married on Scugog Island, July 12, 1919 by Reverend Totten. They made their home there until November 1927 when they moved to Coch- rane St. Port Perry where they lived for 47 years, then moving to John St. their present residence. An Open House was held in their honour at the Latcham Centre, Saturday, July 7, 1979. Their daughters and sons- in-law helped from Ottawa, Oshawa, Bowmanville, Dun- das, Hamilton, Toronto, Lef- roy, Young's Point, Etobi- coke, Stouffville and surr-. ounding area. The grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren as well as many relatives and friends assisted in the Tea Room. Mr. and Mrs. Ross Cook- man and Chris spent the weekend visiting Kathy in St. Catherines. Good health is wished for Leta Leask who is now home from Oshawa Hospital. Several persons from Greenbank attended the 60th Wedding Anniversary in Port Perry of Mr. and Mrs. Stan Ploughman's. There will be a card party this Friday night in the hall. Everyone welcome. Archie Empringham is home from hospital. Mrs. Roundell's brother Mr. Harold Barrett of Toron- to was a recent visitor at the Manse. Mr. Russell Heron of Sun- derland called on Mr. and Mrs. Amour McMillan on Saturday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Neil Hunter spent the weekend in Dorset with Mr. and Mrs. Jack Lowe. Nelson - The home and garden of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Nelson was the scene of a pretty and unique wedding on May 19th of their elder son, Charles McIntyre to Margaret Marie, daughter of M. & Mme. Valere Gionet of Timmins. Officiating at the ceremony was a family friend, Rev. John Griffin of Niagara Falls, Ontario. Attendants were Miss Carol Clark of Montreal and Mr. Reaford Gordon of Ancaster visited his cousins Mr. and Mrs. Frank Innis. Everyone was saddened to hear of the terrible fire at Earl and Doris Bacons. A "Benefit Nite' in planned for Friday evening, July 13 at Lloyd Wilson's Sales Barn where 18 of the Bacon cattle will be sold. This will be followed by a programme with entertainment by - the local talent. Refreshements will be served. Ladies bring sandwiches and squares. Pies will be gratefully ac- cepted, these to be auctioned off later. Any donations can be added to the 'Bacon Benefit Fund" set at the Bank of Commerce, Ux- bridge. Miss Sherri Underwood and Mr. Irvin Ferguson of Calgary have been visiting Mr. and Mrs. Len Jarvis and family for the past week.
