22 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Wednesday, July 11, 1979 Ball Hockey League . Bulldogs - 4 Packers -3 The pace of this game was very fast despite the lack of players.(due to the long weekend). Aldon Smith op- ened the scoring early in the second frame as he beat Dog's goalie Doug Culbert with a low drive. His goal was assisted by Bruce Wood- row. The Dogs tied it up on a goal by Paul Beare assist- ed by Tim Thompson. The Packers then jumped ahead on Donovan Smith's goal assisted by Woodrow. Terry Henderson then tied it for the Dogs assisted by Beare. As you guessed, the Pack- ers jumped into another 1 'goal lead on Ken Fraser's marker. Once again, Wood- row assisted. The Dogs once again tied it on Rob Kroonen- berg's blast from the slot, assisted by Beare. The Packers appeared to take the lead once again, but Don Card's goal was disallowed due té°a penaly call. Paul Beare then tallied for the Dogs to give them the win. This goal was assisted by Brian Evans. ' Warriors - 4 Flames -3 This game went right down to the last minute of play when Ed Olsen banged in a rebound past startled Flames goalie, Warren Nich- olishen. The Flames opened the scoring on a goal by Doug Bronson, unassisted. This lead lasted briefly as the Warriors came back with 3 unanswered goals. Rob Ev- ans, Kevin Martens and: Mike McQuade did the dam- age. Assists on these goals went to Martens, McQuade, ~~ Doug Scott and Clark Men- zies. The three quick goals by the Warriors seemed to spark the Flames as they replied with two goals to tie the score. Rick Rahm scor- ed both goals to pace the comeback. Assists went to Randy Knight, Ken Jeffrey, Len Franssen and Dave Jackson. The Warriors then scored a shorthanded goal with less than 1 minute remaining. A sloppy clearing pass by the Flames enabled the Warrior Phil Cochrane to get a quick shot from the point. Nicho- lishen made a great save but couldn't control the rebound - as Ed Olsen flipped it in. ; LASS Yin Ee y i fr pA FAIRY CaaS Golfers and owner raise over $10,000.
