All children from play- grounds in Greenbank, Caes- area, Blackstock and Sea- grave will be participating in the events at Port Perry where activities will get underway at 9:00 a.m. and run to 12:00. Please have your child pack a lunch as we will be having a picnic lunch and award presentations. In the afternoon the child- ren will be seeing films. So Mothers, your child should be taken directly to Port Perry's Playground in the morning and picked up at 3:30 p.m. Your co-operation will be greatly appreciated. Thank-you. PORT PERRY by Joan Healey Another fun week has passed at Playground. On Monday July 16th all the four and five year old children visited two dentists. We saw a short film and also saw how a filling is made. To finish off the visit the staff served us juice and snacks. We all enjoyed this trip and would like to thank the dent- ists and their staff. Tuesday afternoon brought a special surprise for the children. This object turned out to be a watermelon and we all en- joyed a piece of it. On Wednesday July 18th a travelling puppet show came to Playground. The children learned about the different warning symbols and what they each meant. Friday July 20th meant some pretty tired feet for the older children at Play- ground. This is the day we went on a Walkathon to Prince Albert and back. It was a long trip but the stop for Kool-aid at Suzanne's house helped keep everyone going. This week Playground will be having Pirate Day on Wednesday and there will be rollerskating on Thursday. Friday morning Port Perry Playground is hosting a field day for all the Playgrounds. We also have films in the afternoon for all the child- ren. There are still a few weeks left of Playground so you can still join in the fun. Puppet show with a message. bearing hazardous labels. CAESAREA by Anne Kristensen The population at Caesar- ea Playground has soared to a truimphant 60 children. The time has just flown by and the summer is already half over. This past Friday, twenty- four of the strong athletic boys and girls plus one moth- er started out on their three mile walk to Cartwright Park and back again taking the long way - the very long way. Watermelon and fresh- ie was waiting for them at the park to cool them off. The other four play- grounds of Scugog Township were also walking in their area to help us raise money for our Playground. All the dollars haven't been tallied yet but the results are look- ing quite well. For this week ahead a lot of fun filled activities have been planned. Tuesday and Thursday afternoon will be swim time at Birdseye Pool. For the older children roller- skating has been made avail- able for Thursday also. Nature crafts and finger painting are just a few of the art ideas in store. Thursday morning Green- bank and Seagrave will be having their fundraising act- ivity "A Slave for Three Hours". We here at Caesar- - ea will be working out of our own area and the boys and girls will go around door to door offering their services for a menial fee in any household chore, big or small. We hope the com- munity will support us in our endeavor. Last but not least Friday all the Playgrounds will be congregating together on the Port Perry High School Track and having a competi- tive Fun Day, Field Day. In the afternoon a new series of films will be presented in- side. As you can see, it will be a busy and exciting week. So if you are not already enrolled in Caesarea, come out of the woodwork and walk down to- the Community Hall to have a peek! You'll probably like it. Kids were warned to beware of products A Puppet Show PP PM. with a message Last Wednesday, young- sters from summer play- grounds in Port Perry, Greenbank and Seagrave were treated to a delightful puppet show. Binkly, Doinkel and Sniffler not only entertained the kids with their zany antics, but they passed an important safety message that all youngsters should be aware of. The travelling puppet show, sponsored by the federal department of Consumer and Corporate Pockets the clown has a word with Binkly, or is it Doinkle. Affairs, reminds kids of the meaning of those labels on hazardous products which are poisonous, flammable, corrosive and explosive. Puppeteers Antonella Loraso and John MacLean used the half hour show to entertain and educate. The hazardous products labels were on prominent display, and the message for the kids is that they should avoid any products displaying one of these labels. About 200 youngsters from this area saw the show last week. G.
