Last Monday, our entire playground all enjoyed a refreshing swim at Birdseye Pool in Port Perry. On Thursday, the children participated in Greenbank and Seagrave fund raising event. It was a "Slave for a Morning". The children went around the village and were hired as a "slave" for 25 cents an hour. They did such tasks as picking stones and apples, gardening, dust- ing and even stocking some shelves of one of our local stores. The children and staff of Blackstock playground would like to thank the local merchants and others, who helped us by hiring a slave or two. On Thursday afternoon the older children enjoyed roller skating in Port Perry. On Friday, Blackstock playground was one of many whom were invited to Port Perry for a mini Field Day. The children were put into teams and enjoyed such ev- ents as sack races and ob- stacle courses. After the competition of the events, two teams from Seagrave were awarded ribbons for placing third and second. A team from Blackstock was victorious and came out on top to finish in first place. Way to go, kids! In the afternoon Caesarea and Blackstock enjoyed films in the gymnasium of Port High School. This wrapped up another week of Playground! Next Monday we're going swimming and lawn bowling in Port Perry. Tuesday is farm day, and Caroline's and Valerie's farms. On Thurs- day afternoon, Blackstock Playground will be going to Brignall's Ambulance Serv- ice in Port Perry. Here the children will get a real close look and a better under- standing of an ambulance, its job and its driver. To make this event poss- ible send your child with 50 cents for the cost of the bus. On Thursday, August 2nd the Blackstock playground are going to MacDonaldland in Oshawa for a tour. We need parents to drive child- ren to this because a chart- ered bus is too expensive for the number of children we have. The tour is at two: o'clock. On Friday, Blackstock is going to try to have a car wash if all goes well. Due to the awareness of the water situation we must find a well first. Look for posters! In the afternoon we are having films! Blackstock playground has seventy-five children registered in its program.
