Scugog council Monday night agreed to grant marina operator Bill Kendry the one year lease arrangement, but at the same time, some members of council caution- ed Mr. Kendry about sinking money into the buildings or the Vol. 113 No. 39 equipment as the marina location may eventually be moved. Mr. Kendry said after the meeting that he was pleased with the new one year lease which may be renewed on a yearly basis "since it gives me a little better idea where I stand." In May of this year, Scu- gog council terminated a five year lease agreement be- tween Mr. Kendry and the municipality which was to expire in 1982. Council took that action in May because Mr. Kendry owed the Town- ship about $2000 in back rent, At the meeting Monday night, Mr. Kendry agreed that he was in violation of the terms of the lease because of the back rent owing at the time, but he did say that the notice of termination in May came as a big surprise to him. Leslie was just one of hundreds who attended one of the three dances held at the Scugog arena during the annual event. For more photos of Western Weekend, see inside this issue of the Star. Western Week called success Well, it is over again for another year. Western Weekend, Port Perry's annual three days of summer fun concluded Sun- day and organizers this year say they are generally pleased with the way things went. The event is sponsored by the Scugog Chamber of Com- merce, and Chamber presi- dent Howard Hall told the Star Monday that "it was pretty good." While there is no way of knowing precisely how many people took part in the num- erous events and activities, Mr. Hall did say that mer- chants and booth operators on Queen Street told him that they were pleased with the crowds.
