About ten of the young- sters have been taking the riding lessons since April under the direction of Cathy Elliot of Bethany. Using specially selected horses and sgme modified equipment, the riding by the handicapped has both a recreation and theraputic value in that physical exer- cise are part of the instruc- tional program. For safety reasons, all of the students are led while riding by at least one person. On September 22, the Riding for the Handicapped Association of Oshawa will be holding a 15 mile Ride-a- thon starting at Hoskin Stables to raise money for the handicapped and for special equipment used by them. Anyone wishing more information about the Ride- a-thon should contact 986-5558. EL The look on this youngster's face shows that riding can be an enjoyable and rewarding experience.
