Nestleton, Caesarea area news Nestleton United Church Women Meeting The Nestleton U.C.W. met at the home of Mfs)Norman Mairs on the/ afternoon of September 10th. The presi- dent Mrs. Lawrence Mal- colm welcomed 10 members and several visitors. She read a poem, "This I Pray", by Patience Strong"to open the meeting, followed by the Theme Hymn, A splended Devotional and Study Topic was given by Mrs. W. Vine, assisted by Mrs. N. Rohrer. The hymns "Come, let us sing," and "Tell me the old, old, story" were sung with Mrs. L. Malcolm accompanying on the Hammond Organ. During the business period donations were voted to An- dukyaun Home for Indian Girls in Toronto, and Nestle- ton Sunday School. It was decided to invite Mrs. Joyce McLean, President Presby- terial U.C.W. for our Decem- ber Pot Luck Luncheon. Qur Dresden Plate quilt sold re- cently for $150.00. Final plans for the wedding ban- quet on September 15th were made. The programme concluded with a humourous skit by TRENTWAY TOURS ... The AlTernaTive Mrs. A. Williams and Mrs. W. Vine on "Church Visit- ing." Following the deli- cious lunch and social hour, Mrs. D. Frew expressed ap- preciation to the hostess and Mrs. W. Vine's group for a most interesting meeting. The Pine Ridge Shop ..Just east of the main vill- age of Nestleton, along side the Spring Water Trailer Park, Highway 74, is situat- ed the Pine Ridge Pottery works, operated by Beth and Gordon Curnow, residents of the area. The business opened some twelve years ago in Mississauga and has recently moved to the pre- sent location. The move has proved to be a successful venture. The endeavor now boasting a display 'room, a large interesting workshop with six employees and busy in the designing and manu- facture of vases, ash trays, figurines, candle holders, mugs, maple syrup contain- ers etc. The shop sells to the public as well as retailers and is presently showing at the National Gift Show at the Coliseum Exhibition Place, Sept. 16 - 20th. Court Lady Snowbird L1930 President Irene Train opened the regular meeting of court Lady Snowbird L1930 on September 10th at the home of Anne Lee. The roll call showed 5 officers and 8 members pre- sent. The minutes of the last meeting were read by Secre- tary Carol Doyle and approv- ed. The communications were read. The treasurer Marg. Lee reported that we have 32 adult, 8 juvenile and 7 social members at this time, and that we did very well at the three weddings we catered to during the summer months. A roast beef dinner is scheduled for October 27th, for the Scugog Lake G.R.S. club. The date for the annual Christmas Tea and Bazaar is Wednesday, November 28th at the Nestleton Community Centre. It was decided to purchase two wine openers medium sized bowls and gravy boats to add to our dishes. The ladies annual evening out was discussed and it was decided that as soon as the schedule from the Oshawa Little Theatre was available we would set a date. Anne Lee is going to look into getting prices for air conditioning for the hall. If the prices are reasonalble this may be our next project. Court Lady Snowbird L:1930 meet on the first Mon- day of each month. If there are any ladies of any age that would be interested in joining with us, you would be most welcome. Malcolm and Gail attended the official opening of Central Seven Industries in Port Perry on Sunday afternoon. Visitors with Mr. and Mrs. George Donneral were Mr. and Mrs. William Abbott, David and John of Bramp- ton. Mr. and Mrs. George Donneral have just returned from a 5 day Denure Bus Trip of the Agawa Canyon - a most enjoyable and educa- tional trip. North Nestleton United Church Glad to welcome Sunday School students and with it the increased attendance at the United Church service. Rev. Victor Parson's excell- ent sermon was entitled "Count Me In" and dealt with the duties and privileg- es of membership in the United Church. He recom- mended that the September issue of Mandate which deals with beliefs and practices of the Untied Church of Canada should be in every home.
