20 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Wed., September 26, 1979 More money for farm drainage Agriculture and Food Minister Lorne C. Henderson said recently that 140 muni- cipalities will receive addi- tional allocations for tile drainage debentures. The additional funds amount to $3 million. Of the total, $1 million represents unused portions of alloca- tions made at the beginning of the year with the remain- ing $2 million representing extra funding added to the program. Total funding for the tile drainage debenture program now amounts to $20 million for the year 1979-80. In making the announce- ment, Mr. Henderson said, "Tile drainage is one of the most important projects a farmer can undertake to improve his land and I am certainly pleased with the response this program receives from producers." In the past three years, Ontario farmers have tiled 320,000 acres using funds from the tile drainage program.
