The Honeydale Branch met in the Municipal Hall, September 6th with presi- dent Mrs. Clara Warren pre- siding. The meeting was opened in regular form with the singing of the Ode and repeating "The Mary Stew- art Collect" in unison. A cordial welcome was extend- ed to the members and three visitors. It was a pleasure to have Mrs. Lillian Harper and two neighbours present, namely Thelma MacCarter- and little Trisha Kirby from England. We trust they will be staying in Port Perry and will join with us again. Inthe absence of the Secretary, the position was capably filled by Mrs. Helen MacMaster. Ina has been a very active member of Honeydale she and her husband Cornel- ius have recently moved to Columbus to be near their daughter. Honeydale mem- bers will miss her very much but hope to visit now and then. The Central Ontario Area 77th convention will be held Nov. 8 and 9 at the Royal York Hotel, Toronto. Theme- "Children not only have to learn what their parents learned in school, but also have to learn- how to learn. This has to be recognized as a new problem which is only partly solved." The guest speaker for the Thursday evening banquet will be Mrs. Evelyn Moore of the Oak- wood area a former teacher, having taught at the Leslie Frost School in Lindsay, and has also served on the Couns, ty Board of Education. Mrs. ° Moore is well qualified to speak on the timely theme. Discussion groups will be a feature of Thursday after- noon - a learning experience for delegates attending. Irene Phillips read an interesting article taken from the Readers Digest --- re hold first fall meeting Forestry. To complete the programme Marion Bell gave a reading regarding W.1. work and a report of the District Annual held in Stouffville. Next regular meeting will be held October 4th, beginn- ing with a Pot Luck Lunch- eon at 12:30 p.m. Mrs. Marg- aret Cornish in charge, This is the Tweedsmuir History meeting and should prove to be an interesting afternoon.
