It was a great relief to find that the personnel there gave a higher priority to treat- ment of the patient than to completion of paper forms, and as a result, my symptoms Need weed control Dear Sir: A Letter to Scugog Township - I have paid my faxes for this year and today once again tried to kill the weeds in my lawn. I believe my neighbour and myself spend about fifty dollars a year to try and keep our lawn looking decent. But in the back of my house on Lilla Street, there is a partially constructed house and the yard (back) is just covered with weeds. I have phoned the town- ship office twice, once in August and September and so far nothing has been done. The excuse is they cannot trace who owns the property as the original builder has left the country. I am sure 'chotterbox ....... Burton Cummings, one of Canada'a most popular male rock singers, was in Oshawa last Friday evening for a one night concert and packed the Civic Auditorium with his fans. Cummings is currently on a Canadian tour and just recently performed to over 17,000 at the CNE grandstand. Being a bit of a procrastinator, I left trying to get a date for the concert until the last moment, but with the end result being better than I could have hoped for. As a matter of fact I don't know why I hadn't thought of my blonde haired, blue eyed date sooner, as she probably appreciated the concert more than anyone else I could have taken. . You see, it was her first concert! When I called her about supper time Friday, and asked her if she would like to go and see Burton Cummings she very excitedly answered yes. I told her I would pick her up in an hour. An hour later I arrived and when she answered the door, my heart skipped a beat. There she stood with her long hair glistening, and the unmistakeable scent of perfume drifting from her smooth clean skin. She invited me in to wait while she slipped into her shoes and jacket, and then we headed for Oshawa and the glamour of '"'show-biz"'. We arrived about half an hour early and had no problem finding our seats, so we had time to chat and catch up on what has been happening with each other this summer. The time went very quickly, and before we realized, the lights dimmed and the music began to echo through the auditorium. After two hours of foot stomping, hand clapping rock 'n roll, and two encores by Burton Cummings we left the hall and headed back to Port Perry. We didn't bother to stop for a bite to eat on the way because I had to get up at 3:30 a.m. Saturday morning to go away for the weekend, and I needed the sleep. It was a perfectly romantic evening as we drifted along the back roads to avoid traffic, with the moon and stars shining brightly in the sky and far to the north was the awesome glow of the northern lights. After the excitement of the concert, the tranquil mood of the ride home was just too much for my date and she said, "Daddy, can I lay my head on your lap until we get home." It was about then that I wished that I had a thousand miles to drive rather than ten, as the evening ended much too soon. . DOUBLE VISION About two years ago, shortly after I had purchased my first pair of contact lenses I wrote a column about some of the problems I encountered in adapting to them. The initial problems were not in wearing the lenses, but in my ability to get them in-and-out of my eyes without losing them. There was the time when I crumpled them in a kleenex and proceeded to wipe a spill on the bathroom floor with them. There was the time I threw them down the drain and had to retrieve them through the pipes under the basin. And there was the time that I dropped one in the bathroom and did not find it until a week later. By then I had ordered a new one, and when I did find the old lense it was as brittle and hard as rock candy. 4 Well since those experiences I have had considerable luck and have not had too many problems with losing or destroying these delicate pieces of soft plastic. el og Sv SET SN a SN SONY RX were relieved with minimal waiting time. 3 I would like to congratu- be late your hospital on its hu- 1 manitarian concern, and of- ph fer special thanks to nurse {i Mrs. C. I recall in early spring an , ad was placed by the weed dept. that home owners should control their weeds, if not the township would spray their property and attach the cost to their taxes. So why was it not done to those neglected properties? I also pity anyone who suf- fers from allergies with all that rag weed there. I know my neighbour feels the same way as I do. Sincerely, Stella Dennis Alexa McMillan, Bigelow Street, Port Perry. ra Ky But as always, just when you think you have got a problem mastered, someone or something tries to prove you wrong. Such was the case last week. After driving to Oshawa one evening for supper and a night on the town with a couple of friends we settled into a restaurant, ordered a cold drink and some food. Just about the time this took place, one of my lenses slid sideways in my eye and made it rather hard to see, so I excused myself and went to the washroom. In the washroom I planted my feet firm in front of the mirror and proceeded to try and correct the situation. But it was to no avail. I couldn't find the lense. After working at my eye for a few minutes I decided that the lense was no longer there so I began a thorough search of my clothing, the wall and floor immediately below me. Now this is not easy when what you see through one eye is crystal clear and the other is projecting a hazy, out of focus picture to the brain.
