The Century old Manchest- er United Church was the setting for the marriage of Deborah Lynne Peyton and Guy Robert Guthrie on June 9, 1979. Rev. C.E. Clarke officiated. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Peyton of Port Perry. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. G. Robert Guthrie of Bowman- ville. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a lovely white full length gown of polyester satin with full length chapel train. The bodice and full length button cuffed sleeves were of minia- ture rose lace. Her coronet of lace and seed pearls held her waist length three-tier veil of silk illusion. She carried a bouquet of yellow sweetheart roses, white shattered carnations, lily of the valley, and baby's breath, As the bride's mother was seated, Mr. Larry Kendall sang "The Lord's Prayer'. As part of the service he also sang "The Wedding Prayer" and during the signing of the register he favoured the guests with "We've Only Just Begun". Mr. Kendall was accompanied by Mrs. Mary Lea Dowson on piano. The maid of honour was Miss Tami Harper of R.R.2 Cedar Creek by George Kilpatrick Mr. and Mrs. Rick Lar- ocque and sons visited their Farrow relatives at South River last weekend. George Kilpatrick visited Mr. Everard Joll at New- castle last Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Cum- mings and Steve visited their daughter Karin at Orange- ville recently. Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Tre- panier and Leo Trepanier all of Toronto visited Mr. and Mrs. Victor Larocque on Friday. Mr. and Mrs. James Blain and family attended their nephew's wedding on Satur- day evening. Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Phare and Mrs. Bob Henstock and daughter Sarah, all of Osha- wa, were Sunday afternoon visitors with George Kilpat- rick. OPPERS BROS. She wore a long pale yellow blouson style gown with a matching chiffon cape. Miss Bonnie Payne, of R.R. 2 Seagrave, also friend of the bride, was a brides- maid. She wore a fitted gown and cape in mint green. Junior bridesmaids were Miss Gina Guthrie and Miss Greer Guthrie of Bowman- ville, sisters of the groom: They wore jacketed gowns in the same mint green. All of the bride's attend- ants carried baskets of daisies, shattered carnations and baby's breath, in colours co-ordinating with their gowns. Mr. John DeJager of Bow- manville was best man. Ushers were Mr. Dave Hodg- son and Mr. Garry Guthrie of Bowmanville and Mr. Dave Peyton of Port Perry. Deborah and Guy were honoured by friends and family on many occasions prior to the wedding. On April 13th, Mrs. Ruth Best opened her home for a per- sonal shower for the bride. The young couple was given a Jack and Jill party on May 12th, given by Bonnie Payne and Jerry Reid. Mrs. Dor- een Kendall was a gracious hostess for some twenty-five guests who attended a mis- cellaneous shower for the bride on May 23rd. Mrs. Robert Hilditch of Bowman- ville honoured the bride also with a miscellaneous shower on May 24th. Miss Gail Wallace and Mrs. Ross Wall- ace were co-hostesses for another bridal shower on - May 25th. On Saturday May 26th Miss Bernice Beatty opened her home for a mis- cellaneous shower and 'luncheon for the bride. Miss Tami Harper held an afternoon shower in the bride's honour also on the 27th of May. Mrs. Garnet Rickard was the hostess of a special presentation made to the happy couple by the people of the '"'Shaw's Com- munity", Bowmanville on June 20th. The wedding reception was held at the Royal Canad- ian Legion, Port Perry and was enjoyed by all. Out of town guests came from Cob- oconk, Kinmount, Minden, Toronto, Mississauga, Whit- by, Oshawa, and Bowman- ville. McEntyre joined together in holy matrimony, Wanda Jay Wilkinson, young- est daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E.B. Wilkinson of Port Perry nt. The United Church, Prince Albert was the setting for the July 21st wedding of Mar- celle Rosetta Denise Doupe of Prince Albert and John William Redman of Scugog Island. Officiating at the cere- money was Rev. B. Pogue of Oshawa. The bride is the daughter of John and Marlinne Doupe and the groom is the son of Clifford and Helen Redman. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a beautiful white gown trimmed with dainty white lace and a long flowing train. She carried a bouquet of red and Vernon Brian McClurg second oldest son of Mrs. Do- rothy McClurg and the late Joseph McClurg of Port Perry ina double ring ceremony. The happy couple are now living in Port Perry. Doupe -- Redman roses. The maid of honour was Christinne Preston and bridesmaids were Joanne Foote, Suzanne Doupe, Gayle Page and Arlinne Watts. Tom Redman was the best man and ushers were George Hewson, Russ Boustred, David Redman, and Micheal Doupe. Following the reception and dance at the Port Perry Legion, the couple departed for their honeymoon to Niagara Falls. John and Marci are now residing at Scugog Island. | §
