Mr. Cooper and several other executive members were voted in at a meeting that was supposed to be public on Sunday, September 30. Attendance at the meet- ing was poor. There was not one person who was not a member of the executive, tors. Several persons who did not attend the meeting will be approached by the new Officers to serve on the board. The number of people required for the direc- tors is not restricted. The next meeting, which is a General Meeting and open to the public, will be held an hour later at 12:00 noon on Sunday, October 14 at Conway Gardens. There was a great amount of discussion concerning the time the next meeting should be sche Rob Cooper elected president B® duled. The obvious concern is to get people out to the meetings. Perhaps the new time will prove more effec- tive. As one of his last acts as Secretary Mr. Walker gave a list of duties that should be designated at the next meet- ing. These include: finding sponsors, diamond time allotment, concession organization and Minor Softball Night planning. . to make an effort to decide save for one sportswriter, in attendance. Whether the election were advertised clearly enough or not, the fact remains that not one concerned parent showed up 'on the people who will run the softball program in Port Perry next year. Mr. Cooper was one of four members who was nomina- ted for the Presidency. In rapid fire succession all declined before Mr. Cooper reconsidered. He served as equipment manager and a house league convenor this past summer. He takes over the post that was vacant due to Wayne Venning's resigna- tion, earlier in the year. Mr. Wayne Venning will service as First Vice- President and Jack Cook will remain as treasurer. After a long career on the executive Secretary Vin Walker decided not to accept re-election. He cited an increasing work load in his business life as the major reason. Bonnie Solomon has agreed to take his place. As a past President M~. Walker will remain on the board of Directors.
