Thanks to all those students who bought an activity card, we sold every . last one! Activity card sales were re-opened on Friday before the big football game. This allowwed students one more chance to get in on this money-saving deal. After realizing that an activity card was the key to early dismissal to watch the foot- ball game, students lined up for the final sales. Congrat- ulations student council, and thank you students! Your purchase shall be well worth it. Unfortunately, our boys finished at the bottom of the tackle in Friday's game. They displayed a great effort but it wasn't quite enough to beat out the Dunbarton team. Our 2 touchdowns were scored by John Wyns- ma and Jim Hinds. It was great to see such a good turnout of spectators to cheer the Redmen on. Thank you Activity card holders and better luck next time, guys. Congratulations to our senior girls basketball team as they cleaned up the court with a score of 47-31 against Uxbridge. Last Monday night's game was only an exhibition game but it just goes to show that our girls have started out on the right foot and are determined to keep things that way. Mon- day, October 1, marked the first league game. Results will be in next week's column. On Thursday, the tennis team travelled to Oshawa for the L.O.S.S.A. tennis tourna- ment. Everyone put out a super effort. The ladies doubles team of Ginny Burt and Leslie Forder won the consolation finals match. Congratulations girls. We can't forget our senior and junior boys volleyball teams. They travelled to Eastdale Collegiate last week to take part in an exhibition series. The sen- iors split their four games, but the juniors were able to win three of their four. We wish all of you good luck in the upcoming season. On Monday, auditions be- gan for the 2-night produc- tion of "Count Dracula'. Mr. Crocker, head of the department approached the student council for financial support of $700. The major- ity of this will go towards a stage set to be kept by the department for years to come. The shop department will be building the set as a school project. The remain- der of the money goes to- wards costumes (which in- volves the home-ec depart- ment) and advertisements. The student council has de- cided to support this school involvement project. One last word to all ath- letes. Athletic card sales are onsale now, and it is compul- sory for all students involved in an inter-school sport(s) to purchase one. If you already own an activity card, then bring it along with $3.00 and you'll obtain an athletic stamp on your card. If you don't own an activity card, then with a sum of $5.00 you must buy an athletic card. All coaches will be enforcing this. The purpose of these sales is to help pay for transportation costs, uni- forms, the athletic banquet, and other extras. Check next week's column for more news on upcoming events. 7 see at WILLIAMSON MOTOR SALES For the Best Deals on New G.M. CARS or TRUCKS RICHARD HUNT Uxbridge 852-3331 N Thinking of Leasing?
