The Mo- Jacks travelled about an hour and a half in drizzling rain to reach their destina- tion. They might just as well have stayed at home as they were thumped 7-1 by the Kinsmen Panthers. Phil Cochrane played a strong game at center for the MoJacks and he scored his team's lone marker at the 4:28 point of the third period. He skated down the left side on Panther's netminder Joe Pokusa and blasted a twenty foot slapshot past him. He was accompanied on a two on one break with linemate Tim Kane. John Robertson and Mike Healey drew assists. The Cochrane line, with Healey and Kane, was the best three man unit on the ice for Port Perry. They seemed to gell together, combining the speed of Coch- rane and Kane and the ag- gressiveness of Healey. Kane narrowly missed a goal late in the second period when he failed to flip a rebound into the net behind Pokusa. ealey threw a beautiful check on a Port Hope defender in the third period inside the Panthers blue line. Healey absolutely labelled his man, forcing him to be removed from the game. The injured player did not return. Despite the work of Coch- rane and Company it was a very sluggish effort by the MoJacks. They were out- skated and outplayed for the entire game. The home team took a three goal lead after the initial 20 minutes. Terry Watts beat goalkeeper Ray- mond Gibson with a wrist Raglan Garage & Country Store 655-3521 Winter is almost here ! ! ! shot from just outside the crease after 4.46 had elaps- ed. Gord Lewis set up Watts' second goal as Watts drilled a low hard slapshot into the net. It came with 4.35 remaining in the opening period. The last point of the period (Turn to page 24) MoJacks (From Page 20) the return to uniform of Bill Owen and Steve Jones should give Gibson more protection in the Port Perpy net. If the M ks can get solid defensiye work along the blue line, "some back- checking from the forwards to go along with the strong offensive potential, the club could mold itself into a con- tender. : Port Perry has a tough schedule this month, starting October 11 with a game in Port Hope, and a return match against the same club this Sunday night at the Scugog Arena. The MoJacks also have games against Cobourg, Lindsay, and Bow- manville, all of whom are expected to be tough this season. The two matches this week against Port Hope are espe- cially important for the Mo- Jacks who will be trying to make amends for a 7-1 exhi- bition loss October 4 in Port Hope. A couple of victories this week would give the club a boost early in the season. For the season opener against the Merchants last Sunday night, about 450 fans were on hand at the Scugog Arena. The game this Sun- day night against Port Hope should be a good test. Face-off is 7:30. * Inspect Anti-Freeze & Hoses + Inspect Battery p : fi : VS. t d th .
