Mrs. Asling was treated to a big surprise party on the occasion of her 90th birthday on Saturday October 13, by her sons Donald and Walter and their wives. Mrs. Asling was surprised to be greeted by her grand- son Ron and his wife Millie who had just flown in from Fort St. John, B.C. for the occasion. Also welcomed were Mrs. Asling's cousins Herbert, Nelson, and Howard Ashton and her brother Merle Lamb who all belong to the over 80 club. A special pleasure to ° greet her former neighbours Mrs. Mary Wilson, Miss Vera Prentice and Mrs. Nora Prentice. The relatives and friends were all pleased to have a little visit with Mrs. Asling and enjoy a lunch and birthday cake. Mrs. Asling was born and raised on the 7th concession of Reach. Reading .the scripture lessons were Miss Jill Kendall and Miss Kathy Sutcliffe while Miss Karen Francis read the gos- pel lesson. It is so nice to have these young people take part in the church service. There were 17 tables of euchre played in the hall on Friday evening. Winning ladies were M. Poots, Ruth Beach, and Edna Kerry. Gents were Les Meyers, Doug Stiver, and Phyllis Clark who played as a man. Freeze out winners were Hardy Noble and Bea Harri- son with Charlie and Geor- gena McLaughlin coming in second. There will be anoth- er euchre in two weeks. -Mrs. Mildred Thompson visited relatives in Mount Albert on the weeekend. Master Jeremy Gerrow and his parents visited Gramma and Grampa Brown on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. George Har- per had Mrs. Delia Harper, Mr. and Mrs. Mike Schofield and family and Mr. and Mrs. Malcolm Schofield and fam- ily as Sunday dinner guests. Recent visitors with the Sutcliffe family were Mrs. Linda Wagg and children of Stouffville and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Miller of Mississauga. Mr. and Mrs. David Lan- gille have been spending a few days the past week at their cabin at Tweed. The Langille family were Thanksgiving guests with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Hoogerdyk of Picton. Mr. and Mrs. Doug Mac- Cannell and girls of Peter- borough visited with Mrs. Bessie MacCannell on the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Norman Holmes of Toronto spent a few days with Mr. and Mrs. John Croxall and girls last week. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Janes and Mrs. Pearl Hodgson of Osha- wa visited with Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Bailey on Saturday. Happy Birthday to Miss Laura Carre who was 2 years old last Friday. Visit- ors with the Carre's were Mr. and Mrs. Jack Hinch- cliffe of Toronto and Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Wright and boys. Mr. and Mrs. John Croxall and girls were Friday even- ing visitors to help celebrate Laura's birthday. Mr. and Mrs. Murray Geer visited with Mrs. Nelson Westlake at Beaverton on Saturday afternoon.
