Malcolm on Monday after- #ioon Oct. 15. A quote from Abraham Lincoln concern- ing the importance of child- ren to our society opened the meeting followed by the Theme Hymn. The devotional period was gconducted by Mrs. D. Frew on a Thanksgiving Theme, "Come Ye Thankful People" and. "We Plough the Fields and Scatter" were the hymns chosen. Mrs. Frew concluded with a worthwhile reading on 'Memories of ® hanksgiving. i The Roll Call, "A rule to live by" proved interesting and was answered by the 13 ladies present. Miss Gail Malcolm gave a most interesting report of the Leadership Training ®chool held in Peterborough Sept. 18, 19, and 20. During the business period plans were made to attend the Oshawa Presbyterial meeting to be held in Port Perry United Church Octo- r 23, registration at 9:15 a.m. Canadian Church Cal- endars will be sold again this year with the proceeds going to Missions. Observer sub- scriptions are due again. Mrs. G. Fish will be pleased € renew present subscrip- tions or hear from new mem- bers desiring to receive this Church publication. The Fall anniversary ser- vice on Oct. 28 at 11 a.m. was discussed. WOMEN'S INSTITUTE ACTIVITIES Mrs. M: Firlit and Mrs. L. Malcolm attended the Lead- ers training school for the Nestleton Branch of the Women's Institute on "Indoor Gardening" held in Maple Grove on Thursday and Friday of last week: Several Nestleton W.I. members attended the Durham West District Fun Fair held in Blackstock on Tuesday afternoon and 7 members took part in the Programme, presenting a humorous skit entitled "Skule Daze". COURT LADY SNOWBIRD L1930 The regular meeting of Court Lady Snowbird L1930 was opened by President Irene Train at the home of Marg Lee, Nestleton, on October 1st, 1979, with 11 members present. There are 31 adult members, 8 juvenile and 7 social members. A decision was made that air conditioning would not be installed at the Hall at this time due to priced being very high. The banquet for the Lake Scugog General Radio Service Club was set for October 27th, at the Nestle- ton Community Centre. Two gifts will be presented at the High School Com- mencement. Dorothy Lee and Shirley Jackson are to make two ceramic Christmas Trees for a draw re - the Bazaar to be held November 28th. The next regular meeting, November 5th, at Lyn Bowman's home. Lunch was served by Marg Lee and a social time enjoyed. ¢ $300. LEASE! Save a Whole Lot More! AN EVENING OF FELLOWSHIP Nine members of Court Lady Snowbird L1930 enjoy- ed an informal night out on October 11th. The first stop was Steve's Steak House on Simcoe St. North, Oshawa, where a delicious dinner was partaken of and enjoyed by all those present. Later.on the girls went to Eastdale Collegiate where the Oshawa Little Theatre production of "Blithe Spirit" was being presented. A rewarding, interesting, evening for all concerned - ranging from excellent food to pleasurable entertainment - a delightful occasion shared with loyal friends. We could recom- mend a social event such as this one - a little more often! NESTLETON UNITED CHURCH At the 11:15 Service Rev. Victor Parsons chose as his topic "Why Involve Me" based on the Holy Scriptures 2nd Corinthians Chapt. 8 Verses 1-9 and Matthew 25 - Ver. 31-46. The subject of his talk concerned the Boat People of South-East Asia who are especially in need of help. A special offering was taken for the Refugee Fund - received by Mr. Grahame Fish. In the choir Miss Laurel Vine sang 'In the Garden' accompanying herself on the guitar. Don't forget Anniversary Services next Sunday, Octo- ber 28th at 11:00 a.m. Speaker: Rev. Gardner Ward, Uxbridge, formerly of High Park United Church in Toronto. Special music will be a feature. Lunch will be served by the U.C.W. after the service, and a social hour enjoyed. A cordial welcome is extended to those who would care to attend. PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH SERVICE A splendid attendance on Sunday morning, for the Sacrament of Holy Com- munion. Rev. Fred Swan spoke on "The Significance of Holy Communion" based on I Corinthians - Chapter 11. Firstly - the Sacrament is a Remembrance. Secondly - Thanksgiving for all that He has done. Thirdly - a time of Witness, when we show our colours by taking part. Fourth - Anticipation - we anticipate the time when we will meet around the banquet table. Lastly - Re-dedication giving us the opportunity to re-dedicate ourselves.
