UNICEF can help Among the early settlers of North America, the killing disease was scurvy. The Native People gave them the boiled bark of fir trees and cranberries and the disease was cured. It was not until 1795 that James Lind made the connection between citrus fruit and the cure for scurvy; it was many years after that, that the disease was actually pinpointed as being a result of vitamin ""C"' deficiency. Today, we know a great deal about vitamins and about vitamin deficiency diseases. In spite of our knowledge, over 100,000 children go blind every year because of a lack of vitamin "A". We know the cause of the crippling blindness. What possible excuse is there for not providing the cure? The problem 1s money. Money to provide trained health care workers who recognize the deficiency in its early stages, money to provide the high potency vitamin "A" capsules. By helping fill a UNICEF Hallowe'en box you are help- ing children keep their sight. The gift of "change" is up to you. NEED PHOTO COPIES? We can do them for you.
