MolJacks lose again.... a MoJack captain Bill Bridge even fried to score MoJacks lost the game 4-3, and are mired deep in the Junior C standings, with three wins and six losses. This time to Uxbridge Bruins by Danny Millar The Port Perry MoJacks played their most lethargic game of the Junior C season when they were doubled 10-5 by the Bruins in Uxbridge, on Friday October 26. The MoJacks couldn't seem to jell as a unit. The passing was off, the defence was shakey, the goaltending from Raymond Gibson was porous, and the back check- ing was nearly non-existant. The offence, behind center Phil Cochrane was passable. Cochrane scored his second hattrick of the young season and was named Port Perry player of the game. There were a few line up changes for Port Perry. De- fenceman Robert Kemp was absent, as he will be for the next six weeks with a broken foot sustained in the Bow- OFFICE SUPPLIES For all Your Requirements ORT PERRY STAR 235 Queen Street 985-7383 manville game over a week ago, and Steve Jones was also missing. Added was forward Jamie Eyeman, who earlier in the pre-season was on the Port Hope Panth- ers roster. Eyman flanked the right side of Cochrane and Kelly Neals played on the left for most of the evening. Uxbridge opened the scor- ing 2:20 into the first period as defenceman Charlie Brown was caught up the ice on a two on one break. Marty Rodrigues, who play- ed a strong game on the wing, did the damage. Bob Bell and Henry Vernoy assisted. Rodrigues chipped in four points to the Bruins offence. Less than a minute later MoJacks Bill Bridge gave the puck away at the Ux- bridge blue line and three passes later it was retrieved from behind Gibson at the 2:58 mark. Rick Robertson redirected it into the net, from Dan Robertson and Frank VanKessel. Neals helped get Port's first goal when he occupied an Uxbridge defender long enough for Eyeman to pass from the corner to Cochrane in front, when Cochrane nett- ATTENTION: Wood Burners A CHIMNEY LINED WITH SOOT AND CREOSOTE CAN CAUSE DANGEROUS CHIMNEY FIRES WHICH COULD DESTROY YOUR HOME! Uxbridge outscored the MoJacks 3-2 again in the second session to take a 6-4 lead after 40 minutes. Wing- er Mike Healey was thrown out of the game for butt ending with 9:09 to go in the middle period. He is sus- pended for three games. Bridge netted a neat goal when he stole the puck from Randy Foote and blasted a slap shot past Cheetham. It drew Port within two points, with Bruins leading 5-3. Cochrane narrowed the gap to 6-5 1:09 after the puck had been dropped to start the last segment. He took a crisp pass from rearguard Darrin Jobb and moved around defenceman Wes OPPERS BROS. Port also added a ° IT'S TIME TO THINK ABOUT WINTERIZING YOUR HOME with QUALITY STORM WINDOWS & DOORS uregg and popped it into the mesh. Dan Robertson was left wide open in front of Gibson and scored on a pass from behind the net from Van Kessel. Rick Robertson drew the other assist. Bill Bayard scored another third period marker when he bested Gibson with a beauti- ful deke, culminating an additional two on one with Brown caught out of position again. Rodrigues sprung him into the clear with an accurate pass. Rob Garrow has been moved back to the Port Perry blueline after a trial as a winger and considering the problems with the cur- rent crop of defenders, he will probably stay there. Projectively, MoJack skipper Doug Scott has five men to utilize back there; Jobb and Brown, Garrow and John Robertson and Jones. Team loses three games Coach blames penalties by Danny Millar Port Perry Juveniles, sponsored by Emiel's Place Restaurant, played three hockey games last week, and only once did the horn blow to signify that full time had elapsed. They also lost all three games. The reason that none of the games were completed is that in the Port Perry Arena and Darlington Sports Com- plex where two of the games were held, the curfew to clear the ice came before the final buzzer. The most controversial ending came when Cobourg visited Port on Thursday, October 25 with Cobourg leading 3-1 with 3:05 to play in the match. The Cobourg goalkeeper speared Jim Kane of Port Perry and was given a game misconduct, one of seven handed out in the penalty filled match. Cobourg did not have a ready replacement and requested ten minutes to dress one of the skaters. This was refus- ed and so the game was halted. Mike Tobin, Dave Cann- ing, Tim Parker, and Rowen Kennedy were given early showers for their parts in various unscheduled fisti- cuffs. Tobin and Canning were asked to depart afier they each took on a Cobourg skater at the 8:16 point of the first period. Tim Thompson scored the only goal for the home town team. Port Perry spotted the Bowmanville Toros to a 3-0 first period lead all on power play goals on Saturday, Oct- ober 27 in Darlington and went on to lose 6-1 in a more respectable performance. Bowmanville's Darrell Godey found the mark 2:03 into the game with a wrist shot through Warren Nicho- lishen's legs. Scott Heard was in the penalty box.
