Heron A very pretty wedding was solomnized in Burns Church last Saturday afternoon when Miss Debbie Lane became the bride of Mr. Chris Connell. Following the wedding ceremony a reception was held in the Latcham Centre, Port Perry. Mr. and Mrs. Connell will make their home in Whitby. Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Leh- man enjoyed a two week vacation in North Carolina. Mr. and Mrs. Ted Bryant entertained some neighbours and friends in honour of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Lynde who have recently moved to Uxbridge. We wish them well in their new home there. Mr. and Mrs. E. Heron were dinner guests with Mr. and Mrs. W. McAndless last Saturday night, and attended the graduation of their oldest granddaughter Lenore McAndless at Seneca College in Toronto. Mrs. Don Hobson of Elm- vale visited one day last week with Miss Hilda and Mr. Walter Hopkins. The W.M.S. group will hold their meeting on Wednesday evening of this week at the home of Mrs. Lindsay Death. In the absence of Rev. McEntyre, due to illness, Rev. Stanley Smith of Osha- wa conducted the morning service at Burns Church. We sincerly hope Rev. McEntyre will be well soon. Rev. Smith took his text from Matthew 5 Verse 5. Scugog Island news by Mrs. Earl Reader Next week on Tuesday November 13, at 8 p.m. at the Community Hall is the first of the series of euchres and bake sales sponsored by the Grace U.C.W. The following night, Wed- nesday is the Head Ladies Community supper in the Hall and sponsored by the Head U.C.W. Every lady in the Head community is welcome. Come along and get acquainted and have some fun. Next year the idea may be changed somewhat. The Grace U.C.W. meets this Wednesday at the home of Mrs. Florence Fralick at 8 p.m. At the same time the Head U.C.W. meets at the home of Mrs. Marilyn Heayn All Island ladies are invited to either one. Sympathy is extended to the family of the late Alf Prentice who passed away in Port Perry this last week- end. Mr. Prentice spent most of his life on the Island main road where he and his wife farmed and raised their family of three. At the Island Church service on Sunday over 25 children were present. Hallowe'en is a time for kids, and the streets of Port Perry were alive with youngsters like this last week as they made their rounds from door to door. it was also a quiet Hallowe'en in Scugog for the older kids who kept their mischievous antics to a minimum this year.
