Wilbur's last goal was the final point of the game, for Port Perry. The forward deflected a low slap shot {8m the point by defence- man Sean Fewer to give the Pacers a 5-1 lead. For Wilbur, it was his third game in three nights. He played for the midgets on the previous Saturday against Bowmanville, with the Jr. C. MoJacks on Sunday, and against Uxbridge on Mon- day. The game against Stouffville was Wilbur's first in Junior competition this year. The first period was a fast riving, entertaining frame in which Port Perry gained a 1-0lead. Lovering made the first of many crucial saves on Uxbridge's Trevor Till when the visitors were down a man with Ken Marshall in the penalty box for high sticking. Early in the second period Brian Till had two good scoring chances on a power play with Doug Potts off but Lovering, a left handed puck stopper, was equal to the task. At one point Port was two men short for 41 seconds in the middle period but killed both successfully. Uxbridge got on the sheet with 8:15 left in the second when Brian Till got a lucky rebound that bounced off the end boards right onto his stick in front of the net. He snapped a shot between Lovering's legs. Jim Milroy assisted. Right after Till's goal the Pacers played six men against four for 1:31 but couldn't score. The second was a very even period. The third period was not as equal as Port outscored their rivals 3-1. And they didn't waste any time doing it as Paul Storrey netted a goal just 33 seconds into the session. Mike Andrews assisted. Doug Potts scored a neat goal to give the Pacers a 4-1 lead when he threw a beauti- ful fake to get around one defender and then another on Markell to score. Lovering came up with another save on Trevor Till late in the period while Port was at a man disadvantage. Bob Horton and" Lovering couldn't stop Marshall with 1:17 to go in the match. A pass came out front to the unguarded Marshall, who back-handed the puck into the net. The Pacers may have one of the most successful units in Port Perry minor hockey this season. They are one team that has not experien- ced adjustment pains in moving into a new league with tougher teams, as all the competitive teams in town have done, in the South Lakeshore group. The Pacers are backed with solid netminding from Lovering, good defence from Mike Andrews, and excellent forwards in the likes of Wilbur, Johnson, Dickson and Mark Jeffrey. Phil Kenton and Tim Ashbridge combined on two identical goals, coming back-to-back late in the second and early in the third periods. On the first, coming with 37 seconds left, defence- man Ashbridge let a long shot go from the point and Kenton knocked it in behind a fallen Bill Gerber on the rebound. Utica took a 3-1 lead early in the third when the two combined with Kenton again scoring on a rebound, after less than a minute of action. Ashbridge played well for Utica as the blue-liner was creditted with a pair of assists and counted his team's first goal on an assist from Tim Mitchell. Brian Jury scored two goals for Emmerson, the first one coming 5:53 into the fray. A shot from the corner by Bart Wagar was blocked but Jury banged home the rebound to temporarily tie the score at 1-1. Emmerson drew within a -single point when they began to press late in the second period and their efforts were awarded with a goal. Wagar did the damage. Utica got the winning goal with 5:18 to play in the match on a passing play that left Emmerson goaler Gerber injured.
