To open the meeting, the president, Mrs. L. Malcolm read a poem 'Sacrifice', by Patience Strong. "How Great Thou Art" was sung. In the absence of the secre- tary, Mrs. W. Vine volun- teered to take the minutes, etc. B A most interesting devo- tional and program on the theme of "Shoes" was given by Mrs. N. Mairs and Mrs. L. Malcolm. This program, courtesy of Port Perry U.C.W. included Scripture reading, spiritual lesson on the part of the Shoe, the history of shoes, foot care suggestions and a contest on "Hidden Footwear." Gail Malcolm led in singing "In The Garden" and 'Golden Slippers' with her mother accompanying on the organ. After the Roll-call - "Why I give Thanks", all joined in singing "Count Your Bless- ings." During the business period it was decided to purchase a stove for the Church, two bouquets of silk flowers and two flag standards. Mem- bers agreed to caten to 60th Wedding Anniversar on Dec. 2. Mrs. N. Rohrer and Miss Gail Malcolm are the nominating committee for 1980. The program concluded with a humorous skit con- cerning Dr. Watt and Food Preparation Gujdelines for community groups. Five ladies took part. This had been prepared by Oshawa Presbyterial. ~~ Lunch was served by Mrs. N. Mairs' group assisted by the hostess. Mrs. V. Parsons extended appreciation to those responsible for the -interesting meeting. Next meeting will be a Pot Luck Luncheon at 12:30 on Monday December 10. Hos- tess is Mrs. N. Mairs. There will be Carol Singing and a Gift Exchange. Family News of Interest Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Davis, Hyde Inn, St. Christopher, are looking forward to a visit Caesarea area news from Mrs. Davis' parents Mr. & Mrs. Cecil Henderson, of Edinburgh, Scotland, who will be arriving November 22nd. They will be spending the Christmas and New Year n with their grand- children Scott and Carleton Davis. Mr. & Mrs. Davis are ' planning to have "Open House' to give them a warm Canadian -welcome on November 24th. "Sincere Wishes" to Mr. & Mrs. Henderson for a never to be forgotten holiday with their family. ¥ Mr. & Mrs. Ben Crawford, Tracy & Sarah, Oshawa, were recent dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Craw- ford of Nestleton, the occa- sion beging Mrs. Crawford's (Senior) Birthday. Son Ben and daughter-in-law Heather and children had a real cele- bration with all the trim- mings. Belated "Birthday Wishes" to Marie Crawford from the Nestleton area. Mr. George - Bowers is doing well, return- ing to Oshawa for therapy one day a week. ine We extend deepest sym- pathy to Mrs. Hermanus van der Heul and the family, Peter and Dianne in the loss of a devoted husband and father, Mr. Hermanus van der Heul who passed away suddenly this past week. He was a fine neighbour and friend and will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Nestleton Presbyterian Ladies Aid The members of Nestleton Ladies Aid met in the Church Hall for the November meet- ing. President Mrs. Howard Lee welcomed the large gathering and opened with a familiar hymn. Mrs. George Wolfe conduc- ted the Devotional Period, reading from the Living Bible Mark IV. It dealt with the good seed, simple down- right faith and detachment from the world. The minutes were read by the Secretary, Miss Ruth Proutt. Correspondence included thank you notes and a generous donation. The 1980 Church calendars were distributed. Members Will contribute to the Home Baking Sale on December 14th for the Port Perry Hospital Auxiliary. Several cards to sick and bereaved were signed and $200.00 turned over to the Church secretary. The Roll Call dealing with '"'Good Deeds" was answered by fifteen members. The program included readings by Mrs. Gilson - "Ljttle Things in Life That Count", Mrs. G. Thompson - "Prayer" and Mrs, Harry McLaughlin - "Streams in the Desert" - the oil of kind- ness wears off the sharp corners of life. A hymn and the Mizpah Benediction closed the meeting. A delicious lunch was served by the hostess Mrs. H. McLaughlin and assistant Mrs. G. Wolfe for which Mrs. Gilson extended a thank you for the worthwhile meeting. < Contratulations The Ralph Sadler. and Richard MacKenzie families enjoyed a very successful show at the Royal Winter Fair with several firsts, seconds and four chamption- ship ribbons being accumu- lated. High point of the show being Claire and Leslie placing third in a class of.8 "with their pony "Honey" in the Governer's cart class. North Nestleton Church A very good attendance at the Sunday morning Service at 11:15 a.m. Rev. Victor Parsons took as his theme "What's the Difference?" In what way do Christian Church members differ from Cedar by George Kilpatrick Sympathy is extended to the Roy Graham family on the death of Ruth's mother, Mrs. Morris. The funeral was held at St. Williams on Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Baxter attended 'the funeral of Marjorie's brother-in-law in Ottawa last week. Mr. and Mrs. Vic Larocque held a demonstration on - Wednesday evening for the Shaklee products.
